lol the diagonal lines are showing which way they open, they're not part of the design! As for the locks, standard multi-point lock that you'd get on any back door (not sure what it's called). Turn key inside to unlock, you can turn the handle up to lock too.

That was another reason we elected to brick up the wall and just have one window (you can see on the external pics previously there were more windows), because it gives us two more cabinets in the kitchen.EDIT: Unless you mean the dining room in which case it seems pretty similar, because the aperture is much the same (if not bigger for the door actually).

It probably is an illusion. The whole aperture is just over 1m wide and we made the door itself like 750mm which is standard door width. The whole door and top window together is 2.5m high.The only slight downside is the handle is a bit low. But it was either slightly too low on that panel, or way too high on the next one up.

soon the tea leaves will be going after bricks as well as lead thenHa, yes. The builder was complaining they are £2.40/brick nowBut he did save as many as he could from below the original window. We're easy compared to other houses he's done around here with big extensions etc.

Its been happening for years hence my comment
They tend to take out a garden wall by reversing a stolen truck or van or something into it and drive off with whatever falls into the back and they can grab quickly from the smaller chunks
The london bricks are in demand for "filling in"/ extensions etc, are no longer made in equivalent and hence highly sought after
Indeed, perhaps that's why our neighbour was quoted £90k for a 3m extension recently (They were a very high-end company, she will not be using them as it's nearly double what we imagine it should be!)

That was not the same model we went with in the end* but the total quotes were very similar. The manufacturer is https://alucoaluminium.com/ I'd highly recommend you get in touch - they were very helpful in finding a local London supplier that we could actually go and look at in a showroom. We wanted to use the guys who fitted our bay windows last year but they're way out in the sticks and we literally couldn't get there to view the doors. Everyone that we spoke to said if you want crittal look then Aluco are the best, both in look and errr performance. The brand/models we looked at above* (I think it was called Origin Heritage which was suitably vague) were nowhere near as nice looking, looked like black versions of cheap PVC stuff! (wide, chamfered frames etc.. not good at all)
