What exactly is wrong with these people?

I'm talking about people who name them, claim they have personalities etc.

Are they just lonely individuals or is it some deep psycological issue?

is that a thing ? what really ?

Unfortunately yes.

It used to be quite common to naem your car, don't see it happen anymore though.

I'm talking beyond just giving it a name. I know someone who's just been promoted at work and the new role comes with a company car. She's said that she's upset at this because it means she has to "give up and REHOME her baby" because she can't afford to keep it.

My first car's plate ended in JNF -> Jennifer
Second was NTA -> Anita
Third was MUP -> Muppet
Fifth was JXL -> Jacqueline
Sixth was LGA -> Lagatha

Seventh is WTC which is unfortunate...

Because we're human, and all a little bit weird in our own way.

I, for instance, like to have my satnav map facing north, so I always know roughly what direction I'm driving in and if it's in the correct part of the compass.

Apparently, most people say this makes me a monster.

I watched a program on tv about mechaphilia once. Now that’s what you call deep psychological issues. :D

We've named all our cars, dunno why tbh as I consider it a bit dim too.

By far the worst was a dude I used to know on our forum who was a bit... odd. American, lived in the woods, gun fetish, the lot. He used to buy all sorts of used stuff to restore / repair/ whatever and he always used to say "this followed me home".

It annoys me just thinking about it, they're inanimate objects you absolute disgusting cretin :mad:

We've named the Beetle with a plate ending DVY ,Davy. The Camper is Floyd (plate ends FLD), the Passat is Sheila (sasz? From Suits) the plate end has some s and zzs in it.
The mini is affectionately known as the heap.

Not pretending they have personalities though, I've not lost the plot)

How about cars disparagingly named by the other half reflecting your undue attention to them - BM touring was nicknamed gros-grise (fat grey one)

The idea of identifying a name in the reg plate is good though - aide-memoir when the supermarket calls out the reg of car which needs moving, never remember mine.

Each to their own and all but I always found it a bit odd. One of my aunts had names for all her cars.

The only vehicle I've in any way had anything close to an anthropomorphic thought process with is my pickup - for some reason I just clicked with that vehicle (I'm really not a truck person) it will be a sad day when the chassis snaps in half (hopefully not). But I still don't have a nickname for it.
