The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

Yes he can but he bought it as a free speech absolutist. Just seems odd that he’s now banning accounts that don’t appear to have broken the T&C. He’s happy to host actual neo nazis but this and a flight tracker account is too much.

I think he was clear it wasn't free speech absolute, I mean he banned Kayne West pretty quickly.

Musk doesn't think. his whole work ethic is about taking risks. he fires SpaceX and Tesla workers if they don't innovate by taking risks. Far as he is concerned if they try new things and fail, then that's still better than not taking a risk due to fear of failure. These are his own words in an old interview discussing the type of people he likes ot hire. He is applying the same logic to all this now and failing, but he doesn't care about the mushroom cloud it creates because it doesn't affect him.

Sociopaths and narcissists operate only in this way.

I’m talking about before he actually got control and when he first did. He banned Ye for posting an imagine of a Star of David and swastika combined and at that point I think he was looking for any excuse to get him off Twitter as it was a PR and adverting disaster.

He had claimed before that only illegal speech should be a cause for bans.

Out of interest, why did he offer 33 billion more than Twitter is supposedly worth? Im not putting it down to stupidity, there must have been an actual legitimate reason he offered so much ?

He made a highball offer. Twitter called his bluff and accepted it. Musk tried to wriggle out of the offer and legal proceedings were started. The tech bubble has deflated a lot during all this time and here we are, with Musk being forced to buy a company he arguably didn’t even want in the first place for a price that’s stupidly high.

What is the benefit of a highball offer ? Surely you lowball and gradually increase or am i just massively out of touch on this stuff lol ?

No it was impulse stupidity. Which is why he spent months and likely a lot of money trying in vain to get out of the deal.

Arrogance.

I don't recall Jack Sweeney being known for being a critic?

He's reposting flight data and I don't think anything else he's done has ever been relevant. So he and all his accounts are banned for flight data :)
