The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

It's the hypocrisy and total BS that's the story.

Power tripping and banning people is a daily occurrence in the social internet. It's much more amusing to see a CEO banning a literal nobody after saying he wouldn't, then editing the rules to say he's right, then coming out with a weird car story as a reason to ban the plane guy and throwing in legal threats for spice.

Wait I forgot the hypocrisy in releasing selected "twitter files" documenting irregular and unjustified account actions and denouncing that behaviour...

...then he orders the elonjet account to be shadowbanned...

Obviously at the time it was questionable if the twitter informant sharing the information and the screenshot of the shadowban instruction was real but is there any doubt at all when the shadowban gets lifted and rapidly replaced with a permanent ban on every account the guy had.

Elon must have been screeching when after threatening to fire and sue his employees for betraying him, they do it again and we see that he doesn't walk his talk.

With respect, when you start using lines like this, you're lowering the quality of your post to roar level, and you're better than that.
tbh that's more an ironic general statement given it was often the response that people would churn out when someone was banned, or twitter posts were deleted that people with right leaning viewpoints held that were perfectly fine under the US's constitutional free speech laws.
I could go into a thousand reasons why they can't just "do what they want", advertisers, bills to pay, users, laws etc, so no they can't, but it's a stupid conversation to have.

What you're also doing, knowingly or not, is skipping over the conversation about hypocrisy and statements he made recently, that are now false/lies.
I've already stated I don't agree with banning plane tracking info. Personally i beleive the hypocrisy will be if the bans aren't equal across the board regardless of ideological/political leanings which was my big gripe with twitter 1.0. Tying flight tracking data to doxxing is a bit of a red flag, but also understandable in that more needs to be done to combat doxxing and stalking on Twitter, I don't think anyone would disagree with that statement?
Elon said himself he considers twitter the town hall and it needs to be free. Elon is restricting posts by getting policy added just because he was annoyed at posts that he didn't like that affected him personally.

Now you can't start to see, that this whole "free town speech" thing was possibly nonsense. Many users know already that it was, but maybe you can start to see the truth too. One tiny brick removed from that wall that protects Elon from critism.
The original twitter post regarding that particular user was moronic, doubly so if they had an inkling that they would be banning the information. Is it stupid to carry on with something that has potentially catastrophic consequences or to try and close loopholes?

Banning people or deleting posts is perfectly fine assuming they break whatever ToS are in place if the rules are applied equally.

Yes, we can agree on that.

The guy was shadow banned, then perma banned then the rules were updated. The minimum mockery it deserves is for the order of punishment first then justification after.

There was no multi stage process followed of warnings and shorter bans. It stinks of the boss handing down the order and telling the minions to cover it up.

Ah, just like with the hypocrisy dismissal, you dismiss it again.

You don't have to post anything negative about Elon, but you just have to admit what everyone knows about you and what you deny to be true.
Ahh I see, you are doing the usual lefty thing of ignoring what's in a post and just going after the user instead, standard.

how many posts of "eLoN iS a MoRoN" do I need to churn out?

Zero.

Like everyone else you could simply judge each event individually and apply criticism where it's due.

The fact that doing so happens to result in Elon being heavily criticised of late, is merely a symptom of him recently doing plenty that's worthy of criticism.

This whole ridiculous idea that people are just "hating on someone" because they don't like them is childish garbage.

I fully understand why it happens, it's a common mental defence mechanism for people who've allowed themselves to become caught up in personality cult-worship.

We saw it with Donald Trump and it's the same with most other cult-like leaders throughout history; people under their grip are simply incapable of accepting that others genuinely feel that specific things their beloved leader has said or done are worthy of criticism.

Rather than address or acknowledge the criticism honestly, instead they find it far easier to mentally dismiss it as "illegitimate hate" from whatever out-group their dear leader has chosen to direct their acolyte's anger towards; ultimately leading to them being compartmentalised as enemies.

It's powerful psychological stuff that certain types of people are very susceptible to.

Standard practice for the haters. It's the new TDS, now it's Elon Derangement Syndrome.

I think the vast majority ended up understanding those who really suffered from TDS were the ones who supported the failed ex president of the USA as if he would be a bright light of change
When the reality was most of his time was spent grifting and doing little else than watching fox news and eating cremated steak with tomato sauce.

yeah I haven't been critical of Musk and this plane tracking ban at all have I..
Have to say it's been a pretty amusing past few days, don't agree with the bans on plane tracking accounts,
