COVID-19 (Coronavirus) discussion

Tested clear for COVID tonight. Good to know, but unfortunately my senses of taste and smell are both obliterated. My wife passed me some Turkish delight while we were watching 1899 in the dark this evening, and I thought it was cheese until she told me.

A "standard" cold quite often screws up my sense of taste, it really ruins the taste of my morning cup of tea :(

Positive for COVID today :( think I've managed to pick up 2 different things in a row as was just starting to feel better when sore throat came on this morning and getting a strong and instant positive result.

That’s what happened to me, picked up a little cold(nothing bad) then a few days after I cleared the cold but still had a lingering cough Covid hit, which again was nothing bad(touches wood) I only had symptoms for 2-3 days, funnily enough the first symptom I had was the cough which is why I didn’t give it a second thought, as when I had Covid in may the cough came last. I only tested when I lost my voice which was my first symptom in may (which was probably 2-3 days after the cough started)

I think the point being made is that getting the vaccine is optional. If you naturally catch covid that wasn't optional.

Someone unvaccinated, who as never had covid, as to make the decision on if they want to take the risk of side effects.
The vaccine reduces the severity of COVID though.

So far with what is definitely COVID had about an hour of feeling hot and sweaty, followed by sore throat with a lot of mucus and light headed, only a slight cough so far - wouldn't be so bad but I've been mostly lying in bed last 2-3 days so a bit uncomfortable.

My family had the same kind of thing but built up over a longer period - more like 6-8 hours of fever/sweats, etc.

It's long COVID that's the more annoying of the COVID symptoms, from a quick look online well over a million people currently have it.

I don't do social media at all. This forum is only thing that could come close.

As for emotional subject. All I can say is that it seems people who opt to not get the vaccine get belittled or bundled in with conspiracy nuts and trump voters. Like they are instantly low IQ morons.

Look at someone like Novak Djokovic. Absolute elite tier human, stronger than 99% of society. A life dedicated to being the best. Yet he was getting grief from fat knackers who likely cost the NHS thousands through lifetimes of booze, fags and processed food. I find it amusing.

As for no one being forced to take vaccine, didn't people require proof of vaccine to go to certain places or travel etc?

It's like 'we aren't forcing you to do this, but if you don't then your life will become way more restricted'.

But yeah for the record I'm jabbed, alongside my family. I just don't care if others decide its not for them.

Djokovic is the worst example you could have picked. He's a known nutjob clown with very weird beliefs. He literally believed that he knew he was gluten intolerant because he felt weaker when he held some bread, lmao.

Though I get the point you are trying to make as an aside COVID doesn't care how fit you are. At the height of the pandemic one of my acquaintance was sharing on social media stuff from their gym about how they don't need the vaccine due to their lifestyle and good diet, etc. more recently COVID went around there making some of them very ill.

Personally though whether vaccines or other things I'm not a fan of people being forced into stuff like this or the peer pressure which comes with it - in a larger context it plays into the hands of the unscrupulous. But people should be doing it for the right reasons not because of some baloney on social media which doesn't stand up to 2 seconds of rational thinking.

I meant to post yesterday, I bet you test positive today. It's pretty much how it's going at the moment. Several of our lot at work are now into the third or fourth infection, a couple of them have said their latest one was by far the worst. I guess that's as the vaccine effectiveness drops of.

Hope you're not feeling to rubbish over Xmas though mate.

On a side note are they planning on rolling out another booster for under 50's?

I think we’re all waiting for that news, and suspect the Government will say no.

Would love to be proven wrong at the age of 48 though!

Can't be 100% but I don't think what I had Thurs/Fri was COVID (also symptoms were consistent with the flu couple of my colleagues have had) - was starting to feel better then went through exact same symptoms rest of my family had with COVID today and test was almost immediately strongly positive.

If it wasn't for feeling light headed I'd be back on my feet already, hopefully not a lull before it gets worse.

OK maybe not a good example in this instance but my point still stands. There were other sports people who gave it second thought.

“I’m not some sort of anti-vax, flat-earther,” says NFL quarter-back Aaron Rodgers, who recently tested positive for Covid. “I am somebody who is a critical thinker. I believe strongly in bodily autonomy and the ability to make choices for your body, not to have to acquiesce to some sort of woke culture or crazed individuals who say you have to do something.”

A person like that, committed to their sport and being healthy shouldn't really have their personal decision scrutinised by someone like me who drags myself to the gym a couple of times a week and eats way too much pizza and cheese :).

If someone is obese with underlying conditions I'm like 'you really should probably get the vaccine! '. But with people who are young, eat well and live a healthy lifestyle I'm like 'do whatever you like. You've earned the choice' :p

One of the problems when looking at people who are of elite competitive fitness is while they may 100% believe in the vaccine, they may also be concerned that the vaccine may adversely affect their ability to perform, however rare the chances are. It is their entire livelihood they also have to think of.

That's not going to be a concern for the average person either, really.

Does covid cause myocarditi?

Do you have a link?

Yes it does. At a much higher rate than the vaccines ever could. In fact, most instances of myocarditis are caused by viral infections.

COVID is a cardiac disease. It literally infects the receptors that line your blood vessels and cardiac system.
