Hi everyone, I am feeling very confused as I have a new Legion 5 pro and when I launch certain games, it freezes for a few seconds and I note that it creates a new display. I don't want this happening.

I have nvidia control panel set to auto select, when I switch to optimus every app works perfectly and the 3070ti is activated for gaming.

Is it OK to leave it on the optimus setting? I don't get why auto select some games freeze for a few seconds and then it creates a new display.

There is also a RTX only option. Not sure what to select. Cheers!

When I do actually plug in an external monitor I have no issues.

AMD or Intel version?
I've got a feeling it might be the AMD option because my Dell laptop with an intel cpu and nvidia 3060 doesn't have any of your symptoms when it switches.
The delay sounds like it's from 'switching display outputs'...with the rtx being seen as a new display, maybe even checking for a display on the external adapter (any setting ticked for external display on rtx?)

Been a while since I played around with this but I know there are options in windows 11 and the nvidia control panel relating to this so it could be you've got a conflict somewhere.

RTX Only means it will ignore the integrated gpu of your cpu and only use the nvidia card... it will likely kill your battery life though.

Thank you, it's an Intel. Apparently it is normal after much digging and researching.
