Hi i am on bt's highest fttc package with the smart hub 2. every hour to few hours the internet drops out for 5 minutes quite annoying when im trying to game and it turns off in the middle of a cod match. i dont use any switches but the internet turns off for the whole house not just one device and it flashes orange for a few minutes then goes back to blue

First questions I'd run through is:

1. Do you have another device connected to the line itself other than the SH2? A phone? If so, how many phones and what type of phone?
2. When this DC happens, has there been a storm or adverse weather pattern around your residence recently?
3. Do you have a phone on the line? If so, have you tried picking it up and listening if the line is really crackly/noisey? Especially when it just DC's?
4. How long have you had this FTTC connection for?

Have you contacted BT? They actually have fairly decent technical support.

Rain is fine. But, does the line DC during or after it has rained? If so, there's very likely an issue on the line, and a call to get a BT engineer out will be required to resolve it.

If it is DC'ing even without rain, then roughly what times during the day? Or is it happening all day long?

Also, what line stats are you getting for your FTTC connection? Signal Attenuation, Line Attenuation, sync speeds, etc.

If you had a phone you could plug into the line, you could use the quiet line test and see if the lins is super crackly or with lots of static. If so, that could heavily impact on line stability and connection itself, causing it to DC. Again, this will need an Engineer call out, but at least you know it'll be an actual fault and thus won't be charged for the call out.
