Nvidia want crypto boom money for a die that's smaller than the one used in the 3070 so not even really a proper 80 class card. I certainly wouldn't waste my Christmas money on one.Lol....if I had the money I would probably do the same...

I think it’s clear from this thread and others you don’t like the 4080 card… we get it, you don’t like it haha… there is more than die size, it blows the 3070 out of the water BUT it isn’t good “value”. I’ll have a good comparison soon as I’ll effectively have 2 of the same pc one with 3070 the other with 4080.Nvidia want crypto boom money for a die that's smaller than the one used in the 3070 so not even really a proper 80 class card. I never thought about the 6900 until you guys mentioned it. I must admit I've mostly had Nvidia and the odd amd. If I'm honest you sometimes read negative posts about the a m d and running poorly in games but if thats more red vs green I might give them a look at. I know a lot say hold on but I have a set budget and it's not going to move that much to go really big so up £750 would be my absolute max....cheers allThe exact switch I did, I got 550 quid for my 3070 and got my 6900 for 650 from here. Happy days, hugely faster card in non RT.
Not worth i
If I could swap my 3070 for a 6900 I would. 1440p imo is more about rasterisation performance with that kind of firepower. I think you can get £400 back on your 3070 soo £250 upgrade is great and keeps you under 750 in the initial outlay before the 3070 sellsNot worth it.
Luckily I'm in the majority which is why these cards are not selling and while the performance uplift is solid it's not spectacular and gets outstripped by the price increase.I think it’s clear from this thread and others you don’t like the 4080 card… we get it, you don’t like it haha… there is more than die size, it blows the 3070 out of the water BUT it isn’t good “value”. It’s premium by availability standards (it is arguably the Second best GPU on the market so by that standard it’s premium.Luckily I'm in the majority which is why these cards are not selling and while the performance uplift is solid it's not spectacular and gets outstripped by the price increase.
Don't kid yourself into thinking its a premium product though it's a mid range card and its performance trails the 4090 by over 30% while the more premium 3080 at almost half the cost trailed the 3090 by less than 15%.
2017I believe nvidia and amd have really failed the customer overall this generation, but this has been beaten to death in other threads etc. At the end of the day it’s as expensive as it’s ever been to build a PC. GPUs are really expensive but monitors cpus ram storage are all cheap cheap… so my similarly specced rigs over the decades are all very similarly costed….
4070Ti.the 4070 is just around the corner, just to confuse things even more lol
Thanks for the replyI’ve had both the 3070, 3080 and 3090 all purchased in that order at RRP a month apart each other due to availability. I’ll be honest, I was underwhelmed by the jump from the 3070 to 3080 so I would say it isn’t worth it. Try holding off from the Upgrade right now and wait and see what the 4060/ 7700 bring if you still have the upgrade itch by then.

Thanks to all who replied. I think I might just have convinced myself that the 3080 would be a big improvement over what I have. Tbh the 3070 as never let me down so I think I will hang on for a bit to see what happens in the market...
4070Ti.![]()
I think it depends on how many of the lower end Ampere cards they have still to sell on whether or not we'll see the 4070 non ti.I cant see them just announcing the Ti, surely they will announce the 4070 and 4070 Ti at the same time
Latest rumours suggest FE is $800, so call that £800 upwards in the UK for OEM cards. And as much of a joke as it is the 4070ti being announced on Tuesday for £700~
Which also means the AIB custom ones will be £1kLatest rumours suggest FE is $800, so call that £800 upwards in the UK for OEM cards.
