Have you had any luck sticking things on glossy tiles?

This was my first attempt to put up a small shelf for my shaver held on by mammoth double sided tape.. I didnt put anything on it for 3weeks and it felt really solid, but shelf fell off after 3 days of putting the shaver on.. So now Im trying some Unibond Hard as Nails.. I put the self up again last night and will leave it for 48hrs before tugging on it or putting weight on the shelf as the glue takes 24-48hrs to set. Im thinking its just going to fall off again though??

I tried it with a loo roll holder, and then just drilled and plugged it (that might have been a suckercup rather than tape, it was 20 years ago). In our bathroom upstairs with the shower (relevant as quite humid), I've got some bathroom storage that uses some sticky pads and they've been great. There's probably s couple of kilos on it and they're still going strong.

It’s a disaster zone trying to stick something to it.

You might get away sanding the area first then using something like stix all. Give that a go first if you absolutely are determined not to drill + plug.

Seen as it’s only one hole just get a tile drill bit use some tape so it doesn’t slide and some cold water to keep it cool and go very very slowly, once through the tile just use a normal masonry bit to finish off. There’s a thread with other techniques to use as well which would be worth a read.

CT1 /thread

If you do ever need to remove it tho you may have problems
Well the shelf had been setting for 34hrs and its just pulled off with no force at all, the glue was still wet... But I guess with the tiles being non porous the glue could take weeks to dry? So Will CT1 do the job, how well does it stick stuff to tiles??

CT1 will hold it. And if you need to get it off as long as you can get a thin blade or anything sharp between the tile and back of the shelf you will be able to get it off. I suspect the hold would be so good that if you yanked on the shelf either the shelf or the tile would break before the bond between the shelf and the tile. The stuff is seriously strong.

However really I’d opt for a mechanical fixing but if you’re insistent on adhesive then CT1 will do the job. Although seems wasteful to buy a whole tube just for that…

I think your best bet would be silicon glue - since that's what they stick fish tanks together with. The way you would do this is using a blob of silicon but you use a small amount of super-glue to hold it in place while the silicon sets.
