Parent & Child Parking

Do you let any random pick your fresh food in the supermarket?

Yes that's pretty much how it works.

I'm not sure what the UK supermarkets are like post Brexit these days, but in the US there doesn't tend to be brown rotting fruit on display so it's pretty easy to pick

Ah you've not been here for a while then.

If there are no parent and child spaces it forces me to use a disabled space if my son is with me. Id prefer to use the parent and child. Really bugs me when people without use them. It's just plain inconsiderate and sums up a large portion of society to be honest, kind of sad.

It doesn't force you to do that at all, unless you're leaving out details that either you or your child are disabled.

Disabled bays are for use by those with a blue badge and where the disabled person is present. They're not overflow child and parent spaces....

Well of course he's disabled, wouldn't use a disabled space otherwise, thought that went without saying. However I do prefer to keep them empty for others that may need then as I can get away using a parent and child spaces easily.

Do people still actually go into the shops pick up and check out there own food like a minimum wage worker

Yes we also leave the house more than once a week. Self serve, no queue, no small talk, done. Where’s the flex?

It’s minimum wage cos it requires no thinking.

I do realise that

A) didn’t really want to get into a debate
B) I go to Aldi anyway
c) the shelf life and some quality of picked items is poor.
D) some alternatives are frankly comedy
E) I enjoy walking around the shop as a bit of time out and ultimately the wife is doing it all anyway.

So yes I do “realise”, I also have the ability to apply a degree of preference to it and an we are talking about personal preference anyway which is always a bit of a dead end chat.

Don’t event get me started on McDonald’s and the ordering stuff. Gone are the days of hussle and bustle on the tills and this cold facing computer screen with deliveroo drivers abandoning the cars and loitering in the restaurant… so I’ll pass on the idea that any of this is progress thanks.

Many people (family included) have mentioned the same regarding the deliveroo setup in there... I'm going to have to go into my local McDonalds at some point just for ***** and giggles

You do realise online shopping sends the same stuff from going into the shop right? I'd rather save my time and get somebody else to pick it and deliver it.

Ah but when you go in you get to choose the cut of meat you want, pick the vegetables/fruit that are most ripe according to your needs.

Don't go in expecting to get anything to eat though, at my old franchise the wait time can be 30 minutes if you walk in off the street. The car park was regularly half full of deliveroo drivers (including in the disabled parking spaces...) and they very much got priority...

Very much this. And getting a box of fish fingers as a sub instead of the fresh salmon you ordered can be a little tiresome.

Same could be said of parent and child bays.

Where I used to live the local Morrisons had P&C down one side, total of 14 spaces. Down the other side were 16 disabled bays plus an additional 18 disabled bays as part of the car park.

99 times out of 100 you could gaurantee that there would be at least one old giffer with a blue badge and no child parked in the P&C bays when half of the disabled bays were vacant because they were just an extra 10ft away from the doors.

The store even put up a large banner on the wall stating no blue badge parking in P&C bays and they still persisted.

All parents should be forced by law to buy cars with sliding doors*

*Not to be taken seriously
We bought the Grande C max for the sliding doors. Absolutely a massive boon.

Our friends got the S max. I think they regret that decision.
