Just wondering if anyone on here has owned a Infiniti? They seem to be fairly good value for money. If you have owned one, how did you find it, would you recommend one?

AFAIK they are basically a "luxury" badge Nissan with try hard interior but you do on paper get a lot for the money.

EDIT: IIRC they (the more common models in the UK) share the underlying platform with the 370Z or Pathfinder depending on model or generation and you'll see bits and pieces of those in the interior trim, etc. and/or bits that have been robbed from the parts bin for those which kind of detracts from the premium attempt a bit.

Never owned one, driven a few though. They’re not terrible but their interiors are poor compared to their German competitors and they’re not in the same league as Lexus when it comes to quality / reliability. It would depend a lot on what kind of deal you can get - I nearly bought a Q50 a few years back as it was cheap enough for me to overlook its flaws and when you compared it to other used cars at the same price point it started to look a lot more attractive.

Friend has one. Its been alright. Has the merc 2.2 diesel, maybe a Q50?. Its not been without issues, sensors etc, seems to be common on this engine, but it was quite cheap and its served him relatively well for the money.

That’s what Iv been noticing, for the car and price point they seem to be a attractive contender.

I know someone at work with one, his is the 2.2d also and he loves it. They are one I am considering, there is also the m3.0d that has the v9x engine in it. That’s a 3L v6 diesel, that can found in the Navara and a few others.

The fuel economy and emissions aren't great on the V9X but it is a great engine - all that torque and the wide band of delivery really makes it satisfying to drive, for a diesel, and very smooth. Same as the Navara the turbo intercooler has a tendency to leak boost and oil after around 100K miles.

I owned an M37 for a year or so.

Found it great value, about half the price of the equivalent german car.
Engine was nice, gearbox not so much, had all of the features including radar cruise. I managed to sell it easily too because it was good value i thought it would stick around for a while but it was gone within a few weeks. Fuel consumption is poor.
Handling wise it was ok, nothing special.

I replaced a wheel bearing, some brake pads and a fan belt and maybe pulley.

Wheel bearing was easy from autodoc.
Brake pads were easy to get
Fan belt was hard to source, very expensive from infiniti and no data on the aftermarket. I ended up importing it from usa using rockauto, which you can use for other parts too. I think it was continental.

Anythkgn else ask away.

With most of these it is just a Nissan part, just a bit obscure due to the development complexities, as the cars are mostly built off the Nissan FM platform - many of the parts are from the 370Z parts bin (either production or developmental) without much rhyme or reason.
