Used laptop for an hour or so this lunchtime. Decided to go back into it 2 hours later. Not powering up and no lights.

Tried just now after 4 hours of attempting, still nothing.

I have been holding down the power button for 40 seconds with ac cable in and out. It has achieved nothing. This is what googling asus laptop suggests.

Anyway of getting my laptop back working?

Might be worth taking off the back, and disconnecting/reconnecting the battery. Bit of a hassle, but won't take long.
Does it show charging light when power is connected?

Battery isn’t detachable like my previous laptop. That was so much easier.

No lights on at all.

Yeah, thats why need to take the back off. :D
Detach battery cable from motherboard and reconnect.

I had the older FX504G for a very short time, I'm sure it'll be similar process to remove back panel. Screws and pry tool.

No lights though. Has your AC adapter failed?

Took the laptop to a pc shop along the parade of shops a few minutes walk. They said part of the motherboard has failed. Going through tests.
