No service this year.

Or you could argue it's more beneficial for the manufacturer to service more often as it increases service revenue. Yet still they choose not to.
You could argue both ways I guess. The other side is if your paying dealer service prices then you’d want it to be the maximum amount of time between services, if you only rent/lease the car your not really concerned about how often and when it’s serviced. If you actually own a car and plan to keep it a long time you may well be more concerned about servicing it more often.

If I can do 4 oil changes for same cost that It’ll cost someone to pay someone to do it once then it’s no issue for me to service it once a year.

BMWs have many issues, but the engine internals do seem to last well, despite Toyotas impeccable reliability record, I'm not convinced the metallurgy is as good as some.
My In Law had a Corolla that burnt oil - engine was worn out at only a moderate mileage.

They had an issue with pistons and rings wearing the bores out. It was rectified apparently.
