Zotac Trinity 4090 owners... any issues with fan noise or coil whine?

I have the Trinity non-OC and experience no noticeable coil whine. The fans are also not loud at all on the default curve, 0 rpm below 40C-ish and then 30-50% under load. I'm only hitting 45-55C while gaming though, I did test the fans in Afterburner at 80-100% speed and they are very loud at this point. Case is on my desk approx. 6ft from where I sit in a Phanteks P500a case for reference.

I'm using a nzxt 710i proper thermal editon lol fir a size comparison I put my roccat vulgun is side for size and it fits lol

Damn that sucks man and I am happy I didn't go for the Zotac in the end! I think I will end up with a Palit or an ASUS.

Thanks mate, so no issues with it from your side then? :)

I am more concerned about noise levels when idle than when gaming as when gaming there is always sound on.
So when idle it just fan stops. So you won't hear it just like any other modern card these days. So one of my pc's is under my desk with the zotac airo extreme in. So first off there is no coil whine to speak of or at least not that I could hear. Your mileage may vary as I am getting on a bit and us older folk don't tend to hear the higher frequencies.

So a lot of people mention the fan noise. I have a few 4xxx series cards Out of them on auto fan the zotac is the most audible out of them at 30% while having no coil whine. But my Msi suprimx had quieter fans until 50% but had coil whine. My asus strix was the quietest (just ever so slightly over the MSI) and a very very small amount of coil whine.

most complaints about coil whine go to Asus and Msi cards. Most fan complaints go to the Zotacs although I don't think it as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It like going back a few years ago when graphics card were noisy AF.

you are wrong. These Fans are the worst i heard in 20 years. - but i agree, when idle and fans stop the card is perfectly silent!

Which one did you get? You need to update your sig to add your 4090. :p
My Zotac 4090 makes similar noise, but it's only audible when you keep your head next to the case.

I had Palit or Asus cards before and they weren't better either...
As far as 4090's go Zotac are reported to have the highest/harshest fan noise. Palit and ASUS seem pretty quiet in comparison.

Apples to apples test maybe the fans are noisier when tested on a bench by professionals. But unless you have the sound for the game near silent, I don't see how people could ever hear fans when gaming using speakers or headphones. I understand in this day and age when gaming you wouldnt want to hear the fans at all - but I think these days there arent cards you can hear above the game volume.

Spending near £2k on a card puts warranty at the top of my list. No coil whine on mine whatsoever.

I changed my case layout as I wanted the fans in the top of my case to feed air to the card directly - so my GPU fans face upwards, drawing the air from in intake case fans on top. Much quieter than before or just not getting high rpm's due to better airflow. I don't look in my case or have it on my desk next to me either, and want all internal case lighting off to immerse fully when gaming at night. Even disconnected the LED's on my case for hard drive usage.

The problem is not really gaming, although with the zotac i can hear the humming noise when i am at a silent position ingame through my headphones (Corsair Virtuoso XT).

But the real problem is, you are working on your pc, everything is silent for concentration and every 5 to 10 mins the cards fans speeds up (to at least 30%) for 30seconds and making this annoying noise. Thats what makes you crazy and angry in the end - and keep in mind you paid 2k+ € for such a card.

I remember years ago I think I had a zotax 1080 and this did this. And I don;t doubt for one second the fan noise bothers you. But for me I have various 4090's and 4080's and while it is noisier than those other cards it doesn;t have the coil whine that the Asus and Msi have.

Oh I see, they ramp up every so often. Are you using firestorm to run the fans or Afterburner? I use afterburner and they never ramp up.

If you use Afterburner and try to adjust the fans, it would be stuck at minimum fan level (30%). A work-arround would be to adjust the minimum-temperatur when the fans should first start to spin... but again: you cant do that because as soon as you try to adjust in afterburner, the fans are stuck at minimum level (30%).

so only if you let it be controlled by the original Bios of the card, you have the zero-fanspeed active in idle, but not when the card goes over 47°C and that happens (at least for me) every 5-10 mins.

also the override function afterburner doesnt work, tried every function in it - nothing works.

see the dotted lines in afterburner (they are the minimum and maximum for the card): https://i.imgur.com/5l1NMSZ.png

but again: that would be just a workaround and actually not acceptable for a +2000€ graphicscard.

If your card is reaching 47 degrees at idle then you have a problem, particularly in winter. Just looked at mine and in afterburner it is on Auto. Mine idles at 26 degrees. What's the ambient temp the room your PC is in? You use your CPU to do encoding and that is heating up the case temp, thus the card?

Mine is idle at about 40C idle , dont see it as being a problem. Hits about 70C when gaming.

Just looking through the last few hours my card idles between 38 and 47C. I dont see this as an issue at all.
