Fuji X Series

It's been a quick and insightful journey back to Fujifilm, I am reminded why I decided to sell up before. I don't like taking the camera out and how it removes me from the thing am I doing. I love the results, a lot, which is what made me come back, but not enough to stay. So the X-T3 is going back and the 33mm is up on MM (here). Bargain for anyone who wanted to grab this lens.

Could you do me a favour and buy the 23mm next time so I can pick that up off you after a couple of weeks ;)

I forgot to said this but i always remind people who get into wedding photography “If you are in the moment then you are missing the moment.” Meaning if you find yourself chatting with guests and “enjoying” yourself then you are missing the shots.

It means during your own social events in life, if you want to capture good photos then you can’t participate, at least during that moment.

100% agree with this. I usually bring my small camera and lens (currently X-E3 + 27mm) to most family and friends events (weddings, birthdays etc & of course over Christmas) and people are sometimes shocked at how few photos I come away with. As you say, if I’m enjoying the event and prefer the social interaction than having a camera in the way then I just won’t use it.

One absolute bugbear of mine is when you watch sport (or other live events for that matter) on TV and you see all the spectators with their phones out videoing - drives me nuts. To paraphrase, “…live in the moment…” rather than recording it onto a Snapchat reel that you’ll never ever watch!

That might work but in camera write is only about 80mb/s.

Should be okay for HD video though, you may struggle at 4k with a high bitrate.

I’m really deliberating re-organising (and almost restarting my camera gear)

I have a Leica M6 and Hassleblad 500cm, both in excellent condition, gathering dust. Really tempted to sell both (film is mega bucks now), and buy a Fuji X100V.

I have an X-T1 and X-T2 too, but not sure if I’d prefer a more simple camera again. I’d have to get used to shooting at 35mm again, as 50mm is my go to ’walk about‘ focal length.
