COVID-19 (Coronavirus) discussion

OK so here is my weird, post covid story.

I am (was, spoiler) one of those people who couldn't stand Coriander. Tasted like washing up liquid/soap.

Last week, ordered my first post covid Indian meal (Nagari chicken lamb biryani). It came with more coriander than I think I have ever seen on a dish, ended up missing some and eating it. Tasted nice. so got a spoonful from the pile I removed from the dish, once again, tasted nice.

It's the weirdest thing I have experienced in quite some time. Also, I could barely manage the Nagari chicken, it was so hot! Something I would eat easily before Covid.
Super weird, I too have the gene that makes fresh coriander taste like soap, looks like covid can rewrite our dna! (/s obvs)

Come on now that's utterly ridiculous.

Anyone who is interested in the truth know it's the deep state sterilisers preparing us as food for the Worlds paedo elite by aerosolising agent Q that is actually rewriting our DNA.

What happened to the cheaply available in bulk, Astra Zeneca vaccine, it seems to have dropped completely off the radar with only mRNA vaccines in vogue, despite some questioning their "safety"?

It wasn't as effective as the mRNA stuff, and it had the slight issue of causing brain clots in younger people, which is arguably much worse than a bit of heart inflammation. I still had my two, of course.

Sunak's government recently signed an undisclosed sum deal with Moderna for 10 years of Covid vaccine, produced in the UK.

Moderna had a big investment (£500 million?) by Theleme Partners.

Sunak co-founded Theleme Partners.

Nothing to see here, no siree Bob.

You couldn’t make that up. I suspect a very valid defence in court will be referencing the acceptability of the senior awarding stakeholder having a financial interest in the company he’a awarded the contract to..

You‘d prefer AZ or Phizer?

We welcome corruption with open arms :)

I've done my 3 and won't be doing any more - I await to be judged a moron and an idiot for daring to having a choice and making one (still 3 injections in 2 years is more than enough for me)! :p

I doubt I’ll have another one unless it recommended for specific reasons.

Bit of a different story if you are more vulnerable to stuff like that though - the sentiment with most people I work with is that 3 jabs is enough and they won't be going for any more.

You know what I look at those that say the vaccines are bad and I look at the people that say the vaccine is good and I have made my mind up on that.

If it was the crazies telling me to get the vaccine and the medical experts saying to not bother I probably wouldnt

And they will continue to get hammered even harder as variants that mutate to avoid immunity keep popping up. We've seen it with XBB 1.5 - those who had the 4th jab tend to fare a lot better than those who didn't get it.

How can anyone possibly know that?

Personally I read a lot of the studies (not to say my understanding/interpretation of them is always correct), emergency authorisation documents, etc. and made my own mind up from that - there are, or were, a lot of people in positions of authority/expertise pushing messages with the vaccines which are at odds with the actual data.

Ultimately though I'm kind of annoyed we've seemingly settled on the existing vaccines and slight updates on them as if this is over rather than push on for more robust solutions - we are far from out of the woods on this one.

Though I can't be sure it was XBB.1.5 vaccination status overall doesn't seem to have made a huge difference with whatever we had go around my family and brothers work. Based on previous stuff* I'd say with a fair bit of confidence having had the recent booster likely made a big difference for my dad who has existing conditions and getting on age wise, but for anyone in reasonable health vaccination status doesn't seem to have really made much difference and certainly not stopped anyone getting it or prevented them from having a quite unpleasant case of it.

* Historically when something like this goes around he gets hit by it a lot worse than anyone else, the actual COVID symptoms he got about the same level as everyone else but still picked up a nasty chest infection requiring antibiotics and a close call with blood oxygen levels. Without the vaccinations I'm fairly confident he'd have ended up in hospital based on what has happened in the past.

Sunak has recently spent no doubts lots of government money on that 10-year Moderna deal, but at 49, I still can't get a fourth jab for love nor money.

I'd happily take it, despite reactions to my three jabs to date and now being a long Covid statistic, after my late September infection ~9 months after my last jab.
