Hi i am upgrading my pc to 5800x3d and either of the 7900 GPU's most of the sites i have looked at say that a 850W PSU would be fine for these 2 parts. Just wanted a Human opinion not just a website calculator.

Cheers Andy

If your budget allows it i would go future proof, for the next 10 years.

Im personally waiting for the Seasonic Vertex PX1000/1200 to appear in the UK (The Platinum version of the below) as they are future proofed with ATX 3.0 and PCIe 5.0 standards and a 10 year warranty.

850W should be enough but going for 1000W will long term mean less stress on the PSU and most efficiency tests are done at 50% PSU load.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £781.63 (includes delivery: £11.70)

What model is your current PSU?

If it's a 850 watt turd, you might just blow up your shiny new GPU and CPU. Not all PSUs are made the same.

You haven't given us a budget if you were to replace the PSU.

No I would need a psu, but won't need to future proof as this would be the last upgrade on this current PC. Was looking at a 850w gold+ psu
A good quality PSU will last a good while and if it’s one of the better units, it’ll probably comfortably deliver more than it’s rated output.

The SF750 watt PSU I have does 800 and something watts (I don’t recall exactly how much but it was mid 800s) and comes with a good warranty.

Corsair/Silverstone/Phanteks/etc all usually make good PSUs. Do some googling for exact model reviews.
