I've got a remapped diesel stage 1 but I want a fun petrol car that's over 200bhp! I've tried looking for a type R but some of them around the kent area are complete sheds!

Any suggestions for around the £4500 price range, I'm not that bothered if it's got around 100k millage

What do you expect with a budget of £3500 for a hot hatchback? I can't imagine this sort of money buys well cared for perfect condition examples - they are all going to be very old now for this sort of budget.

Is 200bhp a hard limit? Are you looking for straight line speed and acceleration or something grippy on smaller roads?

I had much more fun in my non turbo Clio 172 than my turbo Mazda 3MPS at 260bhp - I could throw the Clio around in ways that would make me very nervous in the MPS.

I did have a 180 clio prior to this car, hated it... yeh so I think I'll avoid anything that says "renault" :D Not a hard limit, but future mod potential is also good

I wouldn't write off the MeganeSport, it fits your 200bhp+ requirement and it handles really well, just the interior is woeful on the older R26. The interior made me sell up and move to another MPS (i've had both gen1 and 2 and really rate them)

Sadly, i'm now tootling around in a 1.4 civic and losing the will to live daily, I really, really, REALLY miss my 3MPS.

I really miss my MR2 Turbo! I feel your pain

Thanks for the suggestions dude.. Also it's been some time since we spoke, wasn't it Dayz or H1Z1/Warz back in the day?

A fair amount of time, probably a decade or so and yeah, we played WarZ and DayZ.

Just did an autotrader search on 200bhp+ and £4k limit and it's not looking promising if you want to avoid sheds.

You're gonna have to settle for something that's more mechanically looked after with higher miles at this level. EP3, FN2, MKV GTi etc are all gonna be long in the tooth and somewhat thrashed (that's what they're for!). You're shopping for a middle-aged cougar someone wants rid of, it's gonna be used and abused.

Alternatives are Octavia/Fabia VRS, Cooper S, Leon Cupra. Looks to be plenty Cooper S on the market compared to the rest.

UPDATE : I've got £4500 to spend now which makes things a bit better on the car front.

Realistically £3500 as said above was not enough for what I need!
