Nissan Skyline R32 GTR

Yea some of these old performance cars just drive so much better. There are no layers of nannies interfering with things. It makes a difference to the feel.

Absolutely. The Type R DC2 I had was insane for FWD, you could throw it in to a corner at practically any speed with ZERO under steer. The gearbox is probably the best I’ve ever used and the engine screaming to the redline was always a joy. The best part was that you could drive it on the limit on UK roads, I did an EVO Triangle road trip in it and it was one of the best drives ever. I would absolutely love another one. Mine was UK 98 spec, white with red interior, was the perfect spec for me apart from being UK rather than JDM so had the round headlights :(

Sorry to hear about your dad, worth getting out in it as much as possible now, I only take mine out when its dry but I start getting grumpy if I dont drive it for 2 weeks.

Pah, round headlights are better!

Totally agree though, i sold my 98 DC2 right at the bottom of the market when my daughter was born. Regret it 12 years later, what a car.

Thank you, it's been a tough year :( I've just spoken with RB Motorsport again and they can't get me in until next month and I'm away in Thailand for 6 weeks so it's not going to be until May at the earliest now unortunately.

whenever I send mine to Abbey its usually after a 4 week wait or so, they always seem to have work booked in.

Yeah same, sold mine for £4350 and it was low mileage in the diserable white/red combo.

Yeah they are both doing a lot of business still :) After confirming with Rod and Mark again this morning it will be OK to start and drive, it started fine today and I have moved it out and back in to the garage and disconnected the battery again now until I can get it booked in.

Have you got any photos of yours?

A lovely example and a great investment. What mods / power are you running?
Had it 9 years this year, I might sell it next year, I still love it but... 10 years, might be time to change. 39k miles now I think, I do about 1000 a year, I try to take it out every week but its hard in the winter months, I think cars like this need to be out there blasting about, so many are being hiden away due to the value and the weather. I didnt go out this weekend but I was out the sunday before :)

502 bhp, 500 ft/lb, has a lot HKS parts, filters, hard pipes, turbo's, exhaust. Usual old school stuff, apexi power fc, hks fcon pro, greddy boost controller, poncam kit, stoptech brakes all round, lots of stuff.

Love it, sounds the perfect spec for a road car. And a nice 6 figure return if you do sell. What would you consider changing to?

I think it would depend on what I get for it. I see them advertised for a lot but they sit there for months, i'd rather put it up for 90 or so and have a quick sale. Probably give it to HJA to sell for me, I dont want to be trying to sell a car of this value on my driveway.

Loving the car, looks great :D

So many memories coming back, lots good, some bad :D

Good;
I had 2x R32 GTR's when they were ~£5k cars
Great fun, so much love for them at most events
Amazing engines, so much grip, especially the one that I fitted semi slicks to - a hard launch gave a friend a sore neck which we still joke about to this day :D

Bad;
My R32 GTR's were ~£5k cars, 1 had a bad rebuild (I thought head gasket had gone, guy I sold it to found the head bolts were loose and various other issues) The other had an issue with clutches (would stop working, when stripped apart nothing amiss, back together and it worked for ~1k miles then rinse/repeat)
I turned down a friends R34 GTR VSPEC II for £20k as I wanted to buy a Noble instead (Albeit both went up in value, the R34 way more so)

Grey one was the one with engine issues & Blue one the one with clutch issues. Grey one sold for a loss but the Blue one I broke for spares and got about £20k back from a car that owed me about £8k by the time I'd finished buying stuff for it.

Give me a shout before you sell it, I would be VERY tempted around that price.

Awesome, some great memories there. We sold the first R32GTR at £7kish as my Dad wanted the money for another Porsche project, sold within minutes on the GTR forum, priced it too cheap :( It was black with around 80k miles and some stage 1 mods, nowhere near the condition of this one but still such a great car. I also had the Evo II at the time we regulary used to take them both out, great memories.

Very nice.

I must admit I wouldn't normally post when people are showing cars, particularly exotic supersports cars that are out of most people's reach, but these really are something.

I don't think there are really modern equivalents these days? At least Japanese made?

Probably not. No one makes cars like these anymore. Anything modern and remotely similar is heavy, automatic and lacks feedback through the controls. Not really driver's cars.
