It's a suburban street in London, of course parking is bad!Wow you must have a lot of cyclists. So is parking already bad down there, as losing 2 spaces isn't going to make it better.
Yeah. We're trying to find the right people to contact/protest about this but the pointnis there is literally no use for them on our street. Every house has a front and back garden. It's nonsense. There's loads of streets with taller 4/5 storey Victorian villas that are converted into flats. My girlfriend used to live in one and she had nowhere to store her bike. They would be perfectbut for my commuter bike which I use every day and which is a pain to lug up and down the stairs of my flat, they're perfect.
Anyone know what a traffic management order is?For locations suitable for a bike hangar, we will get a traffic management order. This is a 21-day statutory consultation. We will then consider any objections before we make a decision on installing the hangar.
I used one of these for about 2 years (admittedly with a fairly old/unstealable bike) and it was great. They're not beautiful and I wouldn't put my good bike in there, but for my commuter bike which I use every day and which is a pain to lug up and down the stairs of my flat, they're perfect.
I don't know because I don't survey random people. My bike was there for a couple of years and did not get stolen. Nor was there any evidence that the bike shelter was tampered with or that anyone had tried to force the lock. How safe was/is it?
How many more cyclists left their bike there and did any get stolen?

Don't give me ideasWould you like to confess anything?
Hopefully they install some of theseI'm actually surprised they don't put somd sort of reflectors on them so people can see them easier. Just thinking out loud, as car lights reflect when parked, and skips tend to have lights and reflectors too. I'm not saying it's easy to miss a large object like that, but normally stuff on roads is brighter.
That would be awesome if they put them in with those lifters from alien (that's what springs to mind with that light).Hopefully they install some of these
Excellent.
I wouldn't feel safe leaving mine in there.
If the combination lock says “Master” on it, you can open 90% of them in under 60 seconds with no tools. Most combination locks will last all of 5 minutes against someone who has ever watched LPL never mind brute forcing it.
EDIT: removed
Be great if cities were like the Netherlands where everyone just rides and dumps bikes unlocked and can come back to them safely at the end of the day.I visit Copenhagen a lot, and these are everywhere but then everyone cycles. I can see them work if this was the case, but the theft rate would need to significantly lower before I'd want to use them.
Yeah indeed. I do think how nice it'd be if there was a lot more cycling around London, but then I nearly get run down on a pedestrian crossing for the third time this week, by some Brenda not even paying attention and gliding through, and think 'nope'Be great if cities were like the Netherlands where everyone just rides and dumps bikes unlocked and can come back to them safely at the end of the day.
