Hole in freezer lining (1cm square) - possible to fix?

it might stink a bit which is where the 748 has no odour that I've noticed
True. I will have to let it cure for a couple of days to get rid of smell. But, if that is the only issue(?) I'll pick some up tomorrow and get it done as we're crippling the small fridge in our kitchen.

Could I ask one last question - is it ok to apply silicon directly on to the exposed inner lining of the freezer so that I have a foundation to fill hole easily (it's approx 6mm from the hole in the outer plastic lining and would make the job a lot easier)? From your original reply it sounds like its fine - but i want to be sure before I blob away... :)

blob away, we do :D
Brilliant! :D

Thanks for all your help with this @Mr.Cookie (AKA Mr Blobby) - really appreciate having a pro giving their considered opinion to my questions rather than running the gauntlet of random internet facts(sic).

I'll post results of my masterwork...

LOL - I thought i recognised your name

Well, that was trickier than i thought it would be. And I made the process a lot harder by thinking i could smooth the silicon out - like a complete noob. I should have just blobbed and left - as advised, by yourself.

So, below is the mess i made while still wet:

I was thinking of putting some aluminium insulation tape over the top to protect it, once fully cured - would that be OK, @Mr.Cookie?

*If anyone else tries this - with large gaps - literally just fill the hole and then leave well alone. With smaller holes you may be able to make it tidy, but i was just moving silicon about from one point to another with this amount.

My sig is something that gamers do apparently.
Hehe - they spend all that time gaming and then 'read' erotica/porn? They must have used up all their visuals stimuli gaming (unless I'm misinterpreting gamer speak).

*Joking aside, I did think your sig was a ref to something or tongue on cheek...

FFS I'll have to check my Samsung fridge freezer now :D
Hopefully, you'll be OK.

We only had an issue because we had a bottom drawer with an odd stopper design on it. It used the fridge lining, itself, to stop the draw from coming out. And with drawers made heavy with frozen food it creates quite a thump/force if 'someone' pulls the drawer out thinking it's longer than it is. The joke being, the bottom drawer is not as deep as the others so, if not used regularly, you would pull harder and further than is necessary (omitting my wife's occasional cooler based violence).

If you don't have this on your freezer you should be ok. But, if you do find you have an issue it's an easy fix. The silicone i used is easy to get hold of and the smell dissipated after ~6hrs - so it's not as pungent as regular silicone (but probably not as good as @Mr.Cookie 's trade silicone).

The PITA is the defrosting for 72 hrs and then waiting another 48 hrs for Silicone to cure. We were fortunate we had another fridge in kitchen and a small bread/veg freezer in the garage. We would have been screwed had we not had these - or shopping daily after work.
