COVID-19 (Coronavirus) discussion

A number of reasons which could include stress, shock, general trauma.

Tell me why you shouldn't be knocked out for an amputation....
They used to amputate without anaesthetic before anaesthetic was a thing, slug of whisky or rum if you were lucky otherwise just be held down on the table while they took your limb off, wad of cloth or rope in the mouth to bite down on so you didn't break your teeth when you invevitably clench your teeth due to the pain. Chances were good you'd survive so long as you didn't develop an infection, can't imagine what that must have been like but it was routine

a mate of my wifes had a big getaway planned for her birthday today........... and her hubby felt rough last night and tested positive for the lergy this morning..... gutted for them.

not sure how insurance works these days for covid........

slight aside.... are you even allowed to fly these days with covid? if not then do airlines automatically refund if you or one of your family come down with it? my wife and i and 7 year old are meant to be off to Tenerife over Easter......... 1st time my wife has been abroad in 8 years and will be the 1st time our lad has been on a plane.

no idea what we will do if one of us comes down with the lergy.

Check the terms of your travel insurance. I just got an annual policy and when comparing them some only covered cancellations if you got covid, others covered a cancellation if you couldn't go because another family member got covid. There wasn't a lot of difference between the costs, so I got the one with the better cover.

I'm not sure how credible Mr Bridgen is, but what is a shame is that there's no one there to debate with him.

Let me help you out here, he's not credible :D

Brexit frothing ERG UKIPPER through and through, and yes he got booted out of the Tory Party for this stuff. Note my lack of comment on the actual argument but I relish tackling the man on this one. He should be in the stocks.

Did see that research is starting to pop up on how bad it is, statistically significant increases in excess deaths in relation to the number of vaccines doses adminstered and the like.

regardless of the tiny risk from the vaccine it is a far cry from the significantly higher risk of getting covid whilst not vaccinated.
it is like arguing about the dangers of a seatbelt using the risk of belt related injuries against them whilst ignoring the effects of NOT wearing one when in an accident

While that may be true it doesn't mean the other side should just be ignored because it could be worse.

Ah I had forgotten he was a brexiteer... Straight away he's off my "should evaluate" list! :D

Customers are starting to leave their used tissues in trolleys, baskets and shelving.

I don’t care Covid has mostly gone. Please don’t go back to your unhygienic behaviours.

Not entirely true. The ONS data suggests the risk of acquiring serious SARS-CoV2, requiring hospitilisation, is far less than the risk posed by the vaccine/booster itself. The only unknown is if the vaccine/booster provides safe and effective protection against Long Covid.

Pardon? What are the stats for hospitalisation from the vaccine?

The ONS data suggests 1 in 800 people will develop a serious adverse effect from the vaccine/booster. The definition of what constitutes a SAE is stated in the video ; none of it is trivial and includes death.

So not hospitalisation then

Maybe it’s me, and I’m not watching the Jim Bowen video on that kipper frothpot.
