I am considering building my own pc after watching youtube since my current one is about 13 years old however I am not very tech minded or up to date so I hope that if I give you my requirements then you all may be able to make good suggestions or even just what to avoid.
So my main usage other than normal emails, web browing etc is likely to be casual gaming, the types of games that I have a preference for are rpg such as Baldurs gate, Icewind Dale but I would also like to run emulators for megadrive, ps1 and ps2 games since I can no longer play them on ps4 that I use now, I would also like to run something like Bluestacks in order to play app games lime Raid Shadow Legends or Awaken Chaos Era, I'm sure there are more modern rpg games that I would like to try also. It is likely that my grandson would be playing Fortnite or COD occaisionally as well.
In terms of the pc and monitor the only things that I have "almost" decided on that seem to make sense are a graphics card of either 3060TI or RX6700xt and a monitor that is probably 1080p (i don't think i need more) and no larger than 27 inch max and that is about it so if you could suggest Case, motherboard,Graphics card, CPU, SSD, Power supply and anything else required that would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
I should add that I have zero interest in flashing coloured lights inside the case so practical rather than pretty if that makes sense

Difficult to say but since I know the 3060TI is about £400 I think whatever is needed to go with that without wasting cash on extras that I don't need. I guess realistically if it went over £1500 I would have to consider whether it is really worth having a gaming pc since I can buy a PS5 with a lot of games for that kind of money

Although I have mentioned the 3060ti ,I am edging towards the rx6700xt just from what I have been watching on youtube

You'd be better off getting a 6700XT over a 3060Ti if you're keen not to waste cash - you can get one for less than 400 on OC.

Considering your use case, you should absolutely be able to put together a PC for less than 1000 - I also think considering what you've mentioned about Bluestacks as well as emulators, you'd find more value in a PC than a PS5, although the top PS Plus subscription does now have a lot more original PS1 games that you can play on PS5.

That's good to hear, do you have any suggestions for the actual parts that I would need since in many cases I just don't understand the difference in the various numbers that seem to go with every part like a CPU, I thought I5 would be it but there seem to be loads of different I5's

For a graphics card on the level of a 3060 Ti or 6700 XT, you only need something like what tamzzy has suggested. If you want something on AM5 then that'll be more expensive, but future upgradeability isn't a big priority here, I assume.

i doubt so lol, considering that the current pc is 13 y/o
I come from the slightly older generation where you don't replace until it's required or broken , In my case they've stopped supporting windows 7 and I have a minor problem so it feels like the right time rather than wasting money on a temporary fix :)

windows 7 was by choice since I didn't like 10 btw and 7 just felt better

This might be a stupid question but can I play cd's on this as I have quite a lot and currently use my pc to play them and can you recommend some small music speakers for a room of about 9ft square

Really appreciate all your help and will probably order this as you've listed this weekend, if you think that there is anything that could be improved significantly for a relatively small amount of extra money feel free to suggest as it's nicely within budget atm Thanks again back laterz
