I know plenty say they will turn off because red bull is too fast this year, but it's results being decided after the race that is the killer for me.

We've seen it many times before. Why restart the race if there's no racing?

It is almost like the restart has been used to punish those that crashed - yet also to forgive those who made mistakes (or had an incident); doesn't seam very fair.

In all cases the order will be taken at the last point at which it was possible to determine the position of all cars.

That's the safety car line, not the end of sector 1. Although, you could argue it's the end of the mini-sector.

Okay, looked up the rules regarding starting position, and it's different from what I thought. 48.1(c) says:

Any part of the contact patch of its front tyres outside of the lines (front and sides) at the
time of the Start signal.​

Max's wheels appear to be on the line so I think he's fine.

It seems like they use the full sector, same as Silverstone last year rather than a "mini-sector"

The regulations, as far as I can see, only say "In all cases the order will be taken at the last point at which it was possible to determine the position of all cars" (section 57.3). It seems weird to determine that this point is based on sector. I would say that it was clearly possible to determine the order of all cars at the time it was suspended as the order that they ended up going back to the pits in. I wonder whether this is one of those were things are determined by precedence rather than what the rules say.

Then read the regulation out, and got the regulation wrong. They were saying that he was touching the line so it was fine, that's not what the regulation states. If any part of the contact patch is outside of the line then Stewards get to kick you in the nads...
