16 Port Switch With Ports On The Back!!!

Oh grief I know I am going to get in to trouble for this post. Who on earth wants a switch with the ports on the back?
Yes, but, my existing switch (a Zyxel) has them on the back, and all the wiring is sort of organised for that. If I get a switch now with the ports on the front I will have to completely change everything so I can see the LED's. lol. I would rather get a single switch to replace the existing one cus I am running out of power connectors.

Anyway, failing that, any recommendations? What is a reasonable price for a medium quality switch?

Turn a normal switch around, you don't need to see the LEDs.

Stuff with LEDs on the front and ports in the back is usually designed for high end AV installations, is priced accordingly and will have features you don't need.

Yeah, maybe I will have to do that. Then I can buy a sticker for the front."Not this side forward". Or maybe print out a sticker that has imitation LED's on it.

TotalDAC D1 - £4500 for a 3-port switch with one 1GbE port for the NAS link, one 100Mbps port for the streaming player interface and one 1GbE port to link to the router/internet.

And there are plenty more.

We run fibre optic cable for Linn installers and they don’t even like to use copper interconnects, as optical > All.

That's a fair point actually, from an engineering point of view POE is much easier on 100mbs. Gigabit uses all 4 pairs for data, so it basically has to use the same wires for data and power.

It think it always uses the same pairs for power and data. One of our cost reduction strategies is to run one cable for 2 cameras. It also looks better just running one cable.
