Afternoon,

As per the title, I’m looking for recommendations. I’ve got a Q2 at the moment, the finance for which ends in December. I’ve got around £5k in equity and pay about £215 a month for it at the moment. It’s done 30k.

I’ve been looking around and I’d really like an estate, but the A4 seems unaffordable. When I say estate, I just want to have a bigger boot as I haul a load of music stuff around. No kids yet, but they’re in the plan.

I’ve looked at some other cars but obviously it’s a bit hard to find something with as good as an Audi, particularly the interior, without spending a bomb. Frankly, I got a very good price on the Q2.

My budget is £250 a month, and I’d put the full £5k equity in. Petrol, auto.

I’ve looked at a few estates, was considering maybe a Q3 or a Q5 if affordable, but hadn’t considered any wildcards. It doesn’t need to be new but I’ve found the interest rates ok old cars to be a pain.

Thanks in advance,

dirtychinchilla

They do seem to be driven by people of a certain age.
Personally I’d go E220 estate, but that may be out of your budget (and it’s diesel).
Imo, the quality is slightly better than Audi.

Thanks. I'm not inherently opposed to diesels, but I drive 3 miles each way to work every day. Whilst I drive 8,000 miles a year, most days it's just 6-8 miles, so I think the diesel would be very unhappy.

Probably just about warming up as you get to work, at the least that is hello EGR problems. I'm normally fairly blasé when it comes to diesels in this context but that sounds less than ideal unless you regularly get at least some longer runs in.

Are GPFs any better than DPFs in this regard though?

Don't know - but DPF issues have been relatively rare, compared to how concerned people are about them, in my experience - far more often dealing with stuff like fuel filters and EGR, etc. on diesels, turbo eventually especially if you rag them cold.

I think with VAG SUVs, you really need move the seats forward to maximise the boot space. Whereas the Octavia and Leon estates have 620-640L boots default with a nice amount of room for rear passengers.

Something to consider.

Yeah my brother is a big Mazda 6 fan - he is not amused. Have to say though not relevant to this thread the new Mazda 3 is a nice looking car.

Apparently they discontinued it in the UK!
Aye bit of a shame, really lessens the chance of us getting a turbo 6 again :( lol

Yeah I'd be looking Skoda tbh, when I was looking for the spec/price it really was the sweet spot amongst the VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda lot

Im more than happy wiht the 2.0 petrol in the kodiaq
