advice about m.2

I had a look at this one, thinking of filling all the m.2 slots with the samsung drives, once the PCIe 5.0 is out, and the missus need to update her pc, move a drive over, and get myself a faster one, clone windows onto it, then bask in the glory of speed :P

Don't worry about it.
There's barely any real world performance difference between an 'old' 2.5inch sata SSD and a pci-e nvme m. 2 drive, never mind gen 4 or 5 m.2.

If you are shunting huge (or thousands of small) files back and forth between drives on a regular basis it does make a difference.. But for the occasional clone or drive swap it's neither hear nor there really, for day to day operations like gaming etc.

HWinfo64 does a not bad job of showing whats going on, but it can confuse with the quantity of information.

I have found getting a nvme with a better controller / larger capacity / more cache has helped / over the other factors. (only notice in benchmarks / waste of money / but meh)

Slowly realising the top speed of the nvme drives is not quite as important as when i build my current pc with a nvme and it has a 15seconds start up

plan now is to use

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £497.96 (includes delivery: £7.99)

now a deep dive into see if the samsung drive is worth the money, or better off with a cheaper one

The MP600 Core XT uses QLC and has endurance of 450 TBW (2TB), the 980 Pro uses TLC and has endurance of 1200 TBW (2TB). I wouldn't personally buy a 980 Pro after the recent issues, I'd rather have Crucial's P5P or a Firecuda 530 (based on current prices). If you're not running an OS on it, WD's SN770 uses TLC (1200 TBW, 2TB), but has no DRAM.
