Hi all

I've been looking at a few used cars lately, I've come across 2 Vauxhall Insignia's I like, 2011 models both are diesel and have around 130,000 miles on them, full service history and come with new MOT.

My question is, What is a high mileage to stay away from or does mileage not really matter if the car has been well maintained?

Thank you

Not sure about that, probably rammed a few things :D

I've had a few high mileage cars and I always find the same issues. Which is worn/rusted suspension and failing bushes. Not surprising looking at the quality of our roads.

bushes and suspension parts needing replaced are just an excuse to modify them ;)

I'd not put any faith in New MOT's if they're done by the places selling them haha

Yep I've been stung by that. Them or a friendly garage sticking an MOT on it when it has issues.

Get it checked over by somewhere else while it's still in warranty (the law says you get 6 months to take it back for them to fix it, not just 3).

Tbh if I was looking today I wouldn't get a diesel. You're basically Hitler if you drive one and that's only going to get worse. With the large difference in fuel costs now between petrol/diesel I'm not sure a diesel makes sense any more unless you need it for towing.

Adding to above in case I sound too righteous: I currently drive a diesel, and have done for over a decade. But it will most likely be my last one.
