New black box + road trip

You should check that you’re covered for driving outside of the UK. Most policies will by default only give you 3rd party cover when outside the UK and you have to call up to inform them that you’re travelling abroad and pay extra for fully comp cover for that period.

Of course, 3rd party only cover may be fine for you but you should probably just give your insurer a call to see what they say.

UPDATE:
I ended up cancelling the tesco policy before it started (still had to pay £30 which I'm not entirely convinced is legal but maybe it is providing its stated within the Ts and Cs)...
Went with churchill which was £300-£400 more but NO black box which saves me a lot of stress and I've heard once you cough up the first year for non black box it can go down quite substansially the following year

Surely you have 14 days cooling off?

£300-400 more! Jeepers. Suppose one good thing about being old is car insurance. Drive safe, I can only imagine how much you'd get stung for a fault claim
