Hi. I'm trying to improve my sons pc and I'm a bit out of touch from my younger days of building gaming PCs. Motherboard is GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-SLI and has a built in graphics card but he struggles to run games like fortnite or Cod etc. Obviously don't want to be spending loads as he's only 13 and needs to learn how to build he's way up.

Iv found these two online second hand but not sure if the are compatible

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB GDDR5X
Computing / PCI-Express Graphics Cards

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super 6GB GDDR6

Any help would be very helpful thank you.

I'd agree with Tetras here, the 1080 is an old ish card now so if given the choice to have newer architecture and a warranty, that's appealing.

Can confirm though a GTX 1080/Pascal era card will work fine as I have a 1070 on that same motherboard :)

Any PCIe graphics card should work fine really (albeit only at PCIe 3.0)
