YouTube Premium, Why Bother?

I'm using it while I'm immobile with long covid.

The adverts wouldn't be so bad if they didn't keep repeating the same small number all the time.

I'm watching it mostly on an LG TV that uses webos, so blocking adverts on that is nearly impossible without an external solution.

I pay for premium. I need to look at how to get it cheaper, but I pay for the family pack or whatever it’s called and all of us in the house benefit.

I watch a lot of YouTube vids and ads are a distraction I don’t want to suffer.

We also use it for music so makes sense.

It's £1 a month.. why would anyone not have Premium? It makes things so simple, especially as I watch it on my phone, tablet as well as TV.

for adults what's the enjoyment (opportunity?) for watching videos on a phone, just use a add-free windows laptop, maybe connected/cast? to tv - spend the pound on spotify premium instead, for better quality.

[sky perpetually trying to extract a £1 from me - content not worth it

I pay for premium. The adverts drove me insane as i tend to watch SC2 matches (usually GSL or any other major tournament) some of the streams will be 1h +

Was always just as something was about to happen… advert. It really broke the immersion

The £2 odd i pay a month is money well spent for me, i can cast to the tv and be advert free!

Exactly this. Ublock origin blocks everything on YouTube ad-wise on pc. Vanced give you all the premium stuff on phone, apart from downloads but I think that's coming soon. Let's be honest how many people actually download YouTube vids anyway?

On Android I use my browser in desktop mode, so for YT that's Firefox so I can use uBlock Origin to get rid of ads and since it's desktop mode I can turn the screen off and keep listening to videos. All the stuff you could do anyway before YT decided to try and sell it to us.

How does this work on my TV? I don’t have a PC or want to turn on a PC to watch TV…the £1 you saved a month on YT premium you now have to pay for electricity for a PC.

For a couple quid a month, I get my money's worth

What about when you don't have your laptop on you?

Did you not read what I said? I already explained it...

Vanced for mobile. Gives you all the YouTube premium features for free...

The YouTube app literally says premium too

when will people accept that a LOT if people like me watch most of their content at home on the TV?

Bringing up this or that app through a phone or PC doesn’t apply or work on. TV.

And I am on an iPhone…app not available…I’m not buying a phone or a PC to watch YouTube on a phone when I want to watch it on the TV.

No one is disputing that? Nothing wrong with talking about free methods for other areas of consuming YouTube.

But people already stated why they pay for it, your way of doing things don’t fit into their life style for the sake of £1.

Not everyone has android phone.
Not everyone want to watch YouTube on a phone.
Not everyone care about paying £1 a month.

Running a PC to send YouTube to the TV is absurd from an energy perspective.

This is why I bother, to answer the OP.

I use Chrome + Adblock on PC, never have to deal with advertisements.

I use Brave on Android and surf via the website rather than app, again I don't have to deal with advertisements.

This is why I didn't reply to your question avout the TV. I was replying to the guy who asked if what if you don't have your laptop with you... and gave options. He didn't mention watching it on the TV.

I'm not speaking for everyone, I simply gave information about other options there are. I do not watch YouTube on my TV. I only consume it via mobile or on my computer. And many others fall into that demographic too. So it's useful to some.
