Cars with a larger than average footprint.

Hi
I hope you dont mind me bothering you. am off for a test drive of one on sunday.... one thing which worries me is i found a thread with a bunch of owners complaining that the seats are really not very comfy. what do you think about them.

not gonna hold you to any thoughts of course. my worry is, sometimes you do not know how comfy a seat is until you have been on a 2hr+ road trip. i doubt marshalls will let me go that far ;)
I've got the standard seats with "vegan leather" and I've not had an issue with them but they're nothing special. The upgraded seats come with more than one level of adjustability if I remember rightly, but I've no experience of those.

Just tell them you need a demo iPace for the day (preferably two). There's loads of them around so they shouldn't be precious about it.

The one I tried in the past had the optional bucket-looking seats and they were very comfortable.

The Performance seats are great but the normal seats are more comfortable and easier to get in out of the car.

MY21 with Pivi Pro is significant improvement aswell as a couple of other change including lowers rolling resistance tyres for better real world range.

Interestingly people don't seem to be holding onto their Ariyas - dunno why but seems to be a lot of them coming back up for sale used after less than a year with low miles.

indeed... still too rich for my blood....... I like them, i really do, but if i can get an ipace for £10K less then that would be where my money would go. Despite their issues, every single review praises the ipace for being a proper drivers car, 1 review going so far as to say it is the best EV driving experience money can buy outside of the Taycan, which is some proper high praise (i would assume now the Audi on the same platform as the porsche would also beat it)

Between my 44t six axle articulated truck and my Volvo Estate, I can honestly say I’ve never had a problem with either that I couldn’t get out of….

Basically if your anything near a relatively competent driver, you won’t have any problems with cars - no matter how big they are these days - so long as you have the ability to use your brain for it’s intended purpose. :p

well perhaps i am not competent then because i have had some pretty "interesting" times on bordering on single track roads with very minimal numbers of passing places - or some odd parking choices of people on the side of the road which has meant passing with only a few inches of clearance either side. not saying it isnt possible.... but i dont find it relaxing.

obviously if you are used to driving an articulated lorry you are going to be experienced in tight squeezes (either that or no one wants to argue with you ;) )

I wasn't about to argue with one the other day when it decided to pull into lane 2 to overtake a tractor as I was coming up behind already in lane 2 :s

Bit of a silly situation though he should have just stayed out or waited for traffic to clear - as he went back to lane 1 after a previous overtake but it made no sense for me to follow in behind or hold my position versus.

I got completely owned that day LOL as I came up behind these 2 lorries and just as a potential overtake came up we turned the corner to find 2 tractors going 20MPH already on that stretch, so I took a detour hoping to beat them but the lights didn't cooperate and I missed my turn by 1 second so they passed in front of me at the lights LOL.

EDIT: Annoyingly it has been looped over on my dashcam - I got proper stitched up it was funny.

What I’m basically saying is on our U.K. roads you should rarely have any issues - if any - despite what we may think, the U.K. has an overall excellent road network (trust me, a week driving a hire car in Greece has confirmed this!) and there’s few places you should encounter any issues without a little forward thinking, most often in both a car and a truck, it’s barrelling in without stopping to consider if you should do it not which lands you in the hottest water….

Yeah I always try getting HGV into car parks…

Literally irrelevant to the urban use of the cars being described here as personal transport rather than a licensed job.

I did also mention my Volvo V70 - with the turning circle of a small ship - along with the truck. :)

FWIW I often find myself putting my HGV in car parks, it’s often the only access point for loading bays, and frequently the planners have completely overlooked this minor detail….
