Lol dude. It was meant to be a super power. They're trying to invade what can only be summarised as Wales.
Technically England invading Scotland would be a better analogy, though even that is unfair to Ukraine as they were more important to the USSR than Scotland is to the UK.

Ukraine were the second biggest nation of the USSR population wise (one Ukrainian for every three Russians) and had almost parity with Russia when it came to notable figures, technological achievements, etc. Plus notably superior ship building, tank development, nuclear missile development, etc. It was hardly some backwater and while the post Soviet years haven't been kind they haven't exactly bee worse than Russia faced, they have still been developing/selling weapons and were fairly well prepared to fend off an invasion despite what Putin and some idiots in the media thought. Hell one good example of Ukraine's importance is that Russia have only just built a dock capable of housing their Ukrainian built aircraft carrier (which is falling apart after 20 years of no real maintenance) and they are currently scrambling to reverse engineer their Ukrainian ICBMs as for obvious reasons the maintenance contracts have been voided xD.

An interesting note that not many know but some may find interesting is that a Ukrainian (Leonid Brezhnev) was the second longest serving leader of the USSR, behind some Georgian bloke name Joe. And not just that but he ruled the USSR for almost as long as every Russian leader combined. The idea that Russia was the only important/contributing country in the USSR is simply post Soviet Russian propoganda.

Isnt sheep sha**ing illegal?
Punishable by fine, unlike theft of a sheep which was a jail-able offense, this is where the English belief that Wales was a nation of sheep violators came from. Because they were forever catching Welsh people attempting to steal sheep, who claimed to just be trying to violate them (seriously not a joke, that's where that originated from lol).

I think any Scot might take issue with that a bit given Britain is often said to be behind around 50% of the world's inventions and a significant number of of British inventors including some of the more notable ones are Scottish.

Im thinking the Telephone (Bell, 1876) and the Fax (Bain, 1843), not really important though

On another note, possibly a note of caution when it comes to Ukraine - with this latest round of violence in Israel/Gaza people have identified a significant amount of images produced by Midjourney (AI) doing the rounds purporting to show rocket launches and violence in Gaza.

*Kremlin: Russia’s Military Operation Against Ukraine Is ‘Very Difficult’ but Certain Goals Have Been Achieved
*Kremlin: Russia Is Acting Slowly in Ukraine Because It Is Carrying Out a Special Military Operation, Not a War
*Kremlin: Russia Has Succeeded in Severely Damaging Ukraine’s Military Machine and This Work Will Continue
In fairness they're not lying.

(1) - True, certain goals have been achieved, Ukraine's goal to build a SAM network capable of repelling the Russian air force, Zelenskyy's goal to not let his country fall to Blitzkrieg, Zelenskyy's goal to retake Kharkiv, Zelenskyy's goal to not let Bakhmut fall again, etc , etc.
(2) - True, if they were actually committing their full resources to it then it would probably be going much worse.
(3) - True, their ex-tanks have successfully reduced Ukraine's ATGM stockpiles, their helicopters have reduced their SAM stockpiles and their infantry have charged into so many bullets that any advancing Ukrainians will now have to walk up a hill of bodies and that's tiring.

They've convinced anyone not a NATO member to rapidly become a NATO member. Well played.

On a more ominous note shown the value of having a nuclear deterrent (or even just large amounts of long range ballistic missiles).

Place your bets that no one will ever give up `the bomb` once they have them again. Granted only South Africa did, but no one else ever will now (and more will go further to get them)

Maybe, one possibility is that he's not playing there/not bluffing and is genuinely kicking up a fuss because he wants more support/more ammunition.

Perhaps he is making a power play/aiming to replace Putin after the war when it's acknowledged in Russia what a huge **** show it was.

Another possibility, given he seems to be the only powerful Russian confident enough to speak out like that is that Putin really is very ill and is setting him up as his successor.

The Kremlin is focused on the big issues in Russia

Search for that city in Google and you'll see it looks exactly like Family Guy portraits it
That city is most famous for being the place where that meteorite struck near to 10 years ago. Looking at that depressing place it's a shame that meteorite wasn't an asteroid, the aftermath would have improved that city's appeal no end.

When are these highly talked about spring offensives happening? its almost summer.

Or are they already happening but not much ground gained?
It's already started, the ramp up is gradual it's not like their going to to take all that gear they've been given and just kamikaze it into prepared defenses and hope for the best.

One fly in the ointment at the moment is Russia is using GPS jammers quite effectively to disrupt the guidance system on the HIMARS rockets making them a lot less accurate. I would imagine the western precision MLRS systems are a key weapon in any offensive given the lack air superiority to deliver guided bombs on targets.

Ukraine also gave theirs up, they became the worlds third largest nuclear power after the fall of the USSR (and despite what some articles claim they did indeed have the capability to use them without Moscow, which makes sense as they designed/built most of them).

In all honest that wasn't really a mistake as the debt relief/cash/etc they got for doing so was highly beneficial to the country, what was a mistake was getting rid of their long range conventional missiles (at the behest of the Obama administration who back then thought it was a good idea to try and score points with Putin, resetting relations an all, >.>) as there's no way Putin would have invaded or blitzed Kiev if he knew hundreds of missiles would rain down on Moscow.

It wasn't just missiles they gave up, I can't remember which President it was (Yushchenko perhaps) but they gave up their whole bomber fleet to Russian for gas debt forgiveness.

I'm not so sure about this - Ukraine had the most corrupt government in Europe and all of that aid was squandered/stolen resulting in it being the poorest country in Europe. That's why the Maidan revolution happened (egged on by the US) and resulted in comedian Zelensky's election win as he ran on an anti-corruption ticket against Poreshenko.

In any event even if UKR had kept the nukes surely they could have only been fired by a Russian central command. I suspect the real reason Russia gave security guarantees in return for the nukes was so that their technology might not fall into American hands.
