I’m guessing so but just a little scared :/

Taking wife into hospital tomorrow to give birth so panicking as don’t have time to sort but scared if I don’t.

I’d say that’s the rim protector. I’m not a tyre specialist or mechanic, but I’d say you've got bigger things to worry about at the moment. Good luck and congratulations!

No issues there at all, cosmetic damage only. Keep an eye on it for a little while to make sure it doesn't start to bulge or anything, but that is unlikely to happen.

Stopped on way to hospital this morning at national tyre centre, they just echoed the above. Rim protector only and fine to leave as is. Just to check on it every now and again.

If a tyre retailer is telling you it's fine - it's DEFINITELY fine
