Systems advice for nephew

My young (12) nephew had come to me for advice on which PC to by. He’d been saving for almost two years for this so I really don’t want to let him down and I know next to nothing about the current market.

He’s basically wants it if for games (Fortnight!)

I told him to see what he can get for his budget which is about £1200. And this is what he came up with:

  • CPU: (Processor): AMD Ryzen 5 4500 - 6-Core 3.60GHz + Wraith CPU Cooler
  • GPU: GeForce® RTX 3060 Ti 8GB LHR
  • CPU Cooling: AMD Ryzen Wraith CPU Cooler
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte B550M DS3H: m-ATX w/ USB 3.2, 2x M.2
  • Memory (RAM): 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4/3200MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX Memory
  • PSU: InWin A65 650W 80+ Certified Gaming Power Supply
  • Drive: 1TB Kingston NV2 M.2 SSD

This is a prebuilt system, so it includes a case, and he already had a decent keyboard, mouse & headset (gifts from my good self).
All it needs is a monitor where he’s got his heart set on 165Hz and I suggested a Gigabyte 27" G27FC (when in stock)
This comes in at a total cost of £1100 which I think is pretty good.

So, the Q: is does this sounds reasonable? Can it be bettered? I have checked all the OC prebuilds an they are roughly equivalent.

In my experience I have found it always cheaper to build it ourselves rather buying from custom build manufactures. Did you try Dell and HP?

He be better with this from ocuk if wanting a prebuilt

More ram, faster processor and larger vram on the GPU (though it's still a 3060) new releases seem to be very GPU vram heavy so it's worth getting the larger card and it's cheaper.

Only downside is the hard drive size is only 500gb, but can be upped at a later date if required by adding another card.

Thank Thanks all. I don't think his parents are ready for any stress if a self-build ends up broken. They would never forgive me, so we'll save that for next time.
I've has bad experiences of Dell and I don think HGP captures the mood so I'll recommend Oc build.
It does look like an AMD GPU is the way to go for Fortnight and the i5-12400f is probably the best CPU paring as the buying into next Gen AMD architecture is quite costly and probably isn't worth it in this case.
So I’ll suggest both Terat's and sx_turbo ' prebuild for reference.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,212.73 (includes delivery: £11.99)

I would spend an extra £20 and get the 12400 which comes with integrated graphics which can be a life saver if you don't have a spare GPU.

Good point. I have been caught out by that and I found dusting off a three year old GPU and praying it still works isn't much fun.

£10 saved with this cooler.

Rear exhaust fan.

Simple question: If I order one of these baskets OC will build it to a working PC? I don't want to to turn up unassembled in about 10 boxes. That would be bad. I assume it comes built, but it's not mentioned at all on the checkout page or in the help (?!!!!)

Not unless you include the 'build this' option, although I'm unsure where that is! It's actually really easy, like adult lego. Watch a couple of DIY build it videos like this:

Oddly there is no "build this" option at all. I have clicked all the way through to payment and it is nowhere to be seen. Crazy. Maybe the website is broken.

Give them a call, I found them really helpful when I had issues with the finance side (though mine was completely me being an idiot).
