Communism hasnt existed for decades
And the fact that things have actually gotten worse for the average rural Russian since Putin declared himself Tsar For Life is the reason that older Russians look back fondly on the CCCP era.

They didn’t have a pot to **** back then, but neither did anyone else.

I'm not sure if it ever did.

It's easy to blame politics for these situations, but invariably it comes down to individuals. Case in point, Putin is anything but a communist.
It existed for about 5 minutes before they realised a basically pre-industrial society with serfs wasn't applicable and they immediately returned to some form of market before trying again (failing) before abandoning the project completely for something more functional (barely).

Here's hoping. This is what the Russian people need ; communism has enslaved them for decades. Civil war has it's risks, of course : what happens to their nuclear arsenal if it falls into the hands of various militia groups etc ?
It's oligarchic capitalism by all accounts.

This doesn't make any sense. Russia has been full on capitalism since at least the fall of the USSR and largely for some time before that.

Yep, arguably Russia had hyper-capitalism fir a while, with 19thC robber barons and a corrupt bureaucracy that facilitated a huge transfer of public assets to private individuals with zero oversight.
