Golf GTI - DSG Query...

Hello,
Long story short my Golf is in for service, dsg filter change and brake pad changes. The garage under quoted for the work massively so I kicked off and they then pointed out "hey, we'll save you £300, your DSG service isn't required until you're at 65,000 miles (I'm currently at 45,000) - 40,000 recommended, which we emailed you about only applies to some models... not yours".

Had a quick look and not seen anything about the higher limit. Also, higher limit for the performance model (vs standard) seems very different to the norm. Are they BS'ing me? I've asked for this all in writing, so if anything happens and the extended warranty gets voided in the case of a DSG issue I'm not up the creak...

A Mk7/7.5 Golf GTI will have either a 6 speed DQ250 or a 7 speed DQ381.

If you want proper proper warranty proof confirmation, email VW customer service with your registration and ask them to confirm the gearbox and it's servicing requirements. I did the same with my vRS which also had the newer gearbox.

Great thanks (both). Defo the DQ381 then as got 7 gears. Will email customer service as you have said - would be good to have cast iron feedback for that and other components!

An email from VW themselves is the only thing that'll be worth anything should a dealer try to wriggle out of a warranty claim, definitely worth having.
 
Yeah so finally got around to speaking with VW today... Straight away they bumped me to the default service interval page which states 40k. I then pointed out the dealership said 80k for this model. They phoned the dealership and confirmed 80k. So got it in writing from VW themselves so all good. But literally a shambles that they don't have a quick lookup to confirm this...
