Hi All,

Just wondered what cars do people miss the most that they've owned in the past, for me it was these two

y4m7jnhUSZExotm1tQ5OhvKYUhBzQemJwp9bm7wquTco9N-VJ8iU50safRfVD0fsCTS6P-uTyd99QuL-qahCwxS_HrrH9AOUaZDBeAwmmnoXJeFYrrQSaYrOuv2Y0yKW87lEKQNi0eytT9QQVEvTY0TipENrAjzvTArC_FGFKsZ03uGSzpICJvhbGyDBikph_a4

Fiat Couple 20v Turbo, hopeless around corners but epic in a straight line :)
3.0 BMW Z4, went through rear springs like sweets but so much fun!

Let's see 'em and when you owned them?

Cheers

These pair, but the Mustang more, wish I never sold, 600HP RWD live axle, proper drivers car, shame the next owner wrote it off:

What year was that Gibbo?

First time I owned the Mustang was when I was 26  so 18 years ago!
I then sold it for a tidy profit, think I got an M3 CSL, then a year later sold the CSL, cough gave it away and got Mustang back, owned it for like 6 years in total I think.

I miss all my ex cars to some degree... all three of them!

Hyundai Pony - My first car and given to me by my grandad when he became too ill to drive it. Was rusty, taught me way more than I ever needed to know about understeer but was actually way better than the ropey Escorts etc. that my friends were driving at the time.

306 - If I wasn't poor and straight out of uni I should have got one with more than the 75 bhp 1.4 engine because honestly that was the only thing letting this car down. An absolute hoot to drive because you had to carry speed round corners, because the thing had no acceleration, but being a 306 once you were committed there was no backing out because the rear would happily take over the role of leading the direction of travel if you lift off hard mid corner. If I'd been able to justify a GTi-6 or even a 2.0 XSi I probably wouldn't have bothered to swap if for...

... an Octavia vRS - Bought as soon as insurance on a 'quick' car wasn't too expensive. Really lovely car, but a bit... VAG. A Whiteline RARB mostly sorted my issues with the understeery nature of the drive and a Revo remap and Piper exhaust brought a smidge of extra power and bit of unnecessary noise. Near enough gave it away at auction because it started drinking oil like crazy. In hindsight I should have just fronted the cash to fix whatever the issue was. Next owner ruined it with daft wheels, questionable visual mods and anti-lag / 2 step for dem pops and bangs at the Maccys innit.

Since then I've run mundane company cars and an MX-5 that I barely drive :(

In 2006 I have 4 cars, the only one I really miss was the cheapest and most boring of all of them.
RenaultSport Clio 172, sold for a
Fiat Coupe 20VT LE - fast, looked amazing, sounded great but was built so badly I sold it after a few months.
BMW 330Ci - awesome. Loved it but bought it at a trade price to sell on and make some cash.
Mk1 Focus Zetec - took as a px with the Fiat. Ended up keeping it several years. It was the most reliable car I've ever owned. Never put a foot wrong and only required routine servicing. Gave it to my father afterwards, who then gave it back so I sold it to a friend and he had it another 5 years and still says that he misses it (sold it for a bigger car).

Mk 3 Series 1 Ford Escort RS Turbo, absolutely loved it (apart from it getting stolen more than once during my ownership ultimately to disappear forever) and mainly because we’re it still around now it would be worth more than it cost when new.

Cars were better than anyway, early / mid 2000. The reliability and design was there, but they were not over engineered and stacked with tons of needless electronics.

Amen to that.

I can pin point where cars for me started going downhill and it ties in pretty much exactly when BMW stopped advertising 50/50 weight distribution and rear wheel drive in their "ultimate driving machines" and instead started to focus on the fact you can turn the radio up by looking like a tool twiddling your finger in the air.

Now in 2023 cars are simply ranked by their; # inches of infotainment, range, 0-60, charge time.... ZZZzzzzzz

The B16, B18 and H22 DOHC VTEC powered Honda's in the civics, preludes and accords.

Also the Yamaha engine from the Corolla and Celica T Sports

Really do miss those high revving NA 4 cylinder engines

Mmmmmm tough one... but I would say I wish I still had my 205Mi16 (1997 - 2006)... and weirdly I loved my WJ Grand Cherokee 4.0ltr (2013 - 2018) for completely different reasons... two cars I regret still not owning :-(

Strange really, I think because the 205 was just 100% FUN unlike any other car I've owned... and it felt unique in it's handling PLUS it sounded incredible on the twin weber 45's. As for the jeep, it was my first 4x4 I bought in 2013 basically so I could put a dog in it... but it was just so comfy, was mega cheap at £2,800 including the previous LPG conversion, yeah I did some things to it but god I bought on 61k miles and it went on 192k miles... it got hammered and only let me down once due to some poor mechanics at Jeep who screwed the radiator install up... knakcered the gearbox coolent line which then wrecked gearbox. When I sold it actually had a new gearbox in it... wish I'd kept it. Saying that I would have the SRT8 I now have... those were the days!

When I saw the threat topic I instantly thought of both my previous Z4's and E30 M3's.
I had the 3.0 Si Coupe and then an Z4 M Coupe. Kinda wish I had kept it but lack of space and no garage at the time. I enjoyed it over approx the 70k miles I used it for however :). The Z4 3.iSi I think I drove for around 25k miles.
I also kinda miss the 2004 Yaris I had too. Very simple car, not even aircon. Simple but reliable and only about 800kg. Thing with all the modern tech - lots of it's gonna go wrong as the cars age.

The Z4 M

This is the one I miss.

2007 Mitsubishi Lancer 1.6 n/a (note NOT the turbo sports version).

Got it at an auction in Leeds for £1200, had about 30k miles on.

Had it for over 10 years, had about 120k when it went. ONLY reason I got rid of it, is that it developed a very dangerous intermittent brake failure which couldn't easily be diagnosed and unfortunately one of those where unless you are CERTAIN it's fixed, the next time might be your last. Otherwise fantastic car, other than servicing/brakes etc no other mechanical failures, I think I even only had to change one bulb.

I got £400 cash for it on ebay as spares and repairs - I was very honest about the issue. So basically cost me £800 for a great car for over 10 years.

In 2005/6 at different times i owned a sierra sapphire cosworth, lancia delta evo integrale, skyline gtr r32, clio v6. Lancia is the 1 i'd have back now. No photos of them sadly.
Great list. Lancia is the one car I would have to own if money was no object. Sadly it is well out of reach with current prices.

My Nissan Skyline R34GTT - Imported 2003 and sold 2009 - Taken from virtually stock (only a cat back exhaust) to a 450hp GTR-engined monster featured in magazines and as a "guest star" displaying at Max Power style events in Europe. Unfortunatley, due to its age I've not got many high quality pics any more so these will have to do in the mean time.
