Is this an MOT fail?

Places like WBAC also don't care about previous MOT history as long as it's got one when you sell to them.

It's annoying they didn't make LED lights replaceable. If you have a dead DRL the only way is to replace the entire lamp most of the time. So wasteful.
£1500 part plus a bumper off job. Glad I have the extended Volvo warranty! They’re going to swap out the damaged grille for a new one I provide while they have it off. And with awash and valet it should be sale ready!

Why do Volvo (and others!) insist on making something as safety critical as changing a headlamp (or it’s bulb) such a royal pain in the rear?

On my 06 V70 your supposed to remove the front bumper just to change a headlamp bulb, it’s possible to do it without completely removing it by dropping one corner of the bumper or, if you have the hands of a toddler, you can just about leave the lamp in situ, still, it’s a real faff.

All about dealer labour charges I’m guessing, by now you’d have thought they’d have come up with a simpler way to do such jobs.

Comes from optimising the build process.
If it makes future maintenance more difficult then meh as far as the manufacturers are concerned

It couldn't be easier on my '10 V60. Pull out two tabs and the whole headlamp cluster comes out, brilliant design.

It’s part of the reason I won’t own a modern car without a comprehensive warranty in place. In the 2 and a bit years I’ve owned this car it has had around £5k of warranty work. This has been by far one of the least reliable cars I’ve had, which is why I’ve gone for another Volvo….

Interesting that a comprehensive warranty will cover what would previously be considered a consumable like bulbs - or does that come hand in hand with presence of a sealed unit,
( there must be a burgeoning market of people who are reconditioning and breaking open such units, remember watching a video of someone replacing the laser in their bmw headlights,
but, it's like the mobile market for replacing cracked screens )

Did it pass?
Yes, no minors. The tech said it looked fine to him, which is odd because in bright daylight you can barely tell it’s on. Anyway, I’m not complaining.

It’s a sealed unit with (supposedly) no serviceable parts inside. I imagine there are people reconditioning these as they become owned outside of warranties.
