Urgent Help Needed to Find a Second Hand Car...

TBH I've never even heard of an SX4 lol

MOT history looks OK-ish, no idea on reliability etc.

Looking for something that size?

How about this:

1 owner, full main dealer service history, low-ish miles.

Good size, easy to drive (and fun on twisty roads - my brother had one), comfortable, good boot.

Others might be able to shine light on reliability etc.

The SX4 is a good car, the M16A 1.6 is a really good little engine and uses a timing chain so no worries about cam belts. we've got a version of that engine in our Suzuki swift and it's been faultless in the 60k miles we've put on it over the last 8 years.

They're renowned for being reliable, they don't have the style or high end feel of some other cars so they tend to be seen as a bit boring and cheap feeling/plasticky inside BUT that's exactly what you want at this end of the market.

I personally couldn't recommend a better car for your needs than one of them.

No aircon
Mk1

You can buy the nicer mk2 for that money in zetec climate trim

Yeh, but will it be as good condition as this one for that money? I doubt it.

Also, the mk2 was such a boring car.

And I doubt this mk1 will lose much more value unless it gets into the super high mileage.

Mk2 boring but still a good car, handles well and cheap to run

Yeh but at this money I doubt you'll find a one owner mk2 with full dealer service history like this mk1, and the mk1 handled way better and I'd argue is cheaper to run.

Again, thank you all. I'm based in between Luton and Milton Keynes. I also have no means of a car to travel to dealerships (sadly) so will have to rely on public transport (which is atrocious). So I've limited my search to 10 to 15miles. As many have said either the focus or the SX4. I looked at the SX4 as it has some boot space. I intend to take my dog and some belongings, before I make a hasty getaway. I could bite the bullet and have the car delivered without having a test drive...silly I know. Again really appreciate everyone taking the time out and searching and giving your opinions. Also I think I can stretch to 3500k. I will start selling some things on the sly to make the budget to 3500k. :)

It's a shame your search area is so small, widening it will give you many more options. Public transport isn't all that bad imo, i got the train to meet the seller of the car i just recently bought, it was 170 miles away. The seller met me at the station, we did the deal, and he got the train back to where he lived nearby. Dealers will often pick you up at the station. Don't think you're obligated to buy if you do this, always get a return ticket in case it's not what you want.

If you do a distance sale from a reputable dealer you have 14 days to reject the car and get a refund no questions asked (you may have to pay a delivery fee) under distance selling regulations. As long as the purchase is over the phone and/or online and you've never seen the car in flesh before it gets delivered, you are covered.

The focus is in Bletchley, should be easy enough on public transport but if not and you just wish for the car to be delivered to you without seeing or a test drive then I think the one with full dealer service history is your best bet.

Focus has good boot space, parcel shelf can be removed for the doggy, and even the back seats fold down flat if you needed more room.

Biggest problem is getting away from home without raising suspicion! Sorry I'm given my life story here!

If you are scared for your safety there are refuges you can seek help from, or maybe phone the samaritans as i bet they can give you good advice. my cousin was in an abusive relationship and she ended up escaping him by moving out secretly to a refuge 60 miles away. maybe talk to the police if you are being abused?

Safety is okay. It's more to do with my sanity! Things that are happening are border lining on the crazy...! I have a friend who can put me up on the interim. :)

Are these any good?
That looks to be a good example, full main dealer history is a sign it's probably been cared for. And new clutch so nothing to worry about on that aspect.

MOT history looks fairly tidy!

Nothing out there for men, though.
