But if you could set current card prices to what you'd personally regard to be "fair", what you you say?

I know this is just a 'wishlist' on pricing, but some people are waaaay optimistic about what costs are today and how it's impacted this sector overall.

You should be able to top spec a pc at 2k-2.5k but now it's really more like 2.5 to scratch top level and closer to 3 or more to secure it and have the best quality components in each category then closer to 3.5 and beyond.

I've spent about 5K I think for my build in total, give or take.

But phones have set a new trend to go beyond that now.

Could not give a toss really. They make a ton of profit on each of these cards and still would even at the prices I mentioned.

Personally I do not mind the price of the 4090. Milk away I say. But the 4080 should not be more than £749 imo

Yeah good times, I remember spending 699-750 over a decade ago for the top spec card of the time. But given inflation and what you get for performance with the equivalent money... we're probably just demanding excess performance at one point we didn't even know we required.

Inflation hasn't gone up 100% in less than a decade lol

The 4090 is hard to price though simply because it's miles ahead of everything else

4080 definitely should be around £600-£700

If I were to add a 4090 mine would come to £2700 with fairly top spec but not excess. If put a 4070Ti or 7900XT in it then around £2k.

£1.5k should by a solid rig imo. It's doable but you need to cut some corners or compromise.

No you are right. 2080's were a bit of an anomaly when 3080's launched at £650 ... but as @Gibbo said, that price was way off the mark.

Well it's 25-35% quicker than a 4080. So say worth 50% more taking into account premier performance tax. If you believe the 4080 is worth £700 then it should be £1000-1100?
