Hi

I game at 4k, and have a MSI 3080 10GB. I have the upgrade itch. And looking at the 7900XTX.

Is it worth it, game seem to run ok.

TIA

I was happy to go that route but sadly I suffered the AMD vapour chamber failure when there wasn't any replacement stock so ended up with a 4080. I was happy with either.

I'm only really appreciating the RTX + Path Tracing in Cyberpunk but otherwise games like Valheim, Mech Warrior 5 which I've played aren't that taxing.

The 7900XTX is 52% faster at 4K or 47% faster at 1440P.
Overall RT performance at 4K the 7900XTX is also 32% faster.
The worst RT performance is in Cyberpunk, where its only 8% faster than the 3080.

You would also have 24GB of VRam vs 10GB now, i can see that being a problem for the 3080 soon if not already.

IMO yes its worth it.

I went 3080>XTX.

I don't use upscaling and RT doesn't do it for me either, at native 4K, it blows it away.

Fps gains as stated are good, frame times are incredibly smooth but the 1% lows are much higher in comparison to the 3080 on same settings.

You get 100% IQ (textures get reduced/streamed/culled to fit 3080 in some games) so full ultra textures all the time.

I got a bit of a monitor upgrade recently and my 3080 fps now doesn't get near my refresh rate so have been considering this myself. For me feels a little hard to justify so leaning towards waiting for next gen

When is the next gen likely to be released.
