Exactly, financial penalties do not hurt clubs that break the FFP regulations when the reason they are getting penalties is because they are flinging money around in ways that is irresponsible. They can afford to break the rules and the penalties are probably factored in. There is no point in having the regulations if clubs will just mock them as ultimately there is no punishment.

It's madness. The game is complete nuts.

Ok and I agree to an extent but again, I was simply pointing out that City had been charged and fined by UEFA which Stumble & Adam seemed to be under the impression hadn't happened.

There does need to be staged punishments however, whatever they might be, because there's different degrees of rule breaking. We don't know the exact details of Utd's breach but assuming it is something very minor, would a points deduction or being banned from UEFA competitions be fair? When City were first charged by UEFA they got hit with a pretty big fine but they also had UEFA squad limits (they could only register a 20(?) man squad in the CL instead of the normal 24) and had spending limits placed on them too. When they were charged a 2nd time for more serious offences, they were then hit with the CL ban which was subsequently overturned by the CAS.

I think thats a clear message that he isn't in Uniteds plans going forwards. You can't have a guy as your captain and not play him 90% of the time. Should have moved it to someone else last season really.

I note he says he is happy at Utd.

Happy - at a club that hardly plays him - says it all. Maybe he has ambitions to be the new Phil Jones ?

This takeover isn't happening is it? I think the Glazers are just hoping to delay long enough that people forget :D

Certainly feels like its just petering out. Going to be a **** show if they don't sell. Share price will absolutely tank. Future sale will be a nightmare because who will want to deal with the Glazers again like this. Fans will be livid.

Selling the club at this points makes complete sense considering the mess they have led it into but anyone so incompetent isn't likely to suddenly show great clarity and decision making out of the blue I guess.

He's pretty much the only choice. Casemiro and Varane would be fairly short term appointments and then there's either younger players and or players not guaranteed to play regularly.
