Looking for a GPU to pair with 12400f

I currently have a pretty ancient PC - i5 3570 and RX480.

I’ve ordered bits and bobs to upgrade to a 12400f, a B760 board, 16GB RAM and an NVME drive but am stuck with what GPU to get. I’ve got a 1440p Ultrawide but am happy to turn settings down a fair bit. I don’t really want to spend more than £300.

The 4060 is getting roundly ridiculed and apparently 8GB RAM is going to cause problems moving forward. I looked at second hand 3070s but not sure they make sense - still 8GB RAM and no DLSS3. The 6700XT is over £300 but I suppose I could sell the Starfield code to hopefully get closer to my £300 target.

Any thoughts welcome. Waiting a few months isn’t out of the question, either, as I know the 7700 XT is supposedly on the way (but I think will be much more than £300?).

6700xt is probably your best option, as you mentioned if you include the price of starfield it does work out around £300.

You might find a 3060 ti around £300 as well and it's not a terrible shout at 1440p as its got a better memory bus than either the 4060 or 7600, so will be less likely to fall on its arse any time it hits the 8gb vram limit

Thanks. Does the 3070 also have the better memory bus?

Another vote for a 6700XT. About as quick as a 4060Ti but more memory and cheaper. Faster than the others mentioned. If you can stretch the budget or sell Starfield.

I wouldn't buy a card with 8gb ram for 1440p ultrawide.

I think anything below a 4070 is just throwing money away. But that's double your budget.

Another vote for the 6700XT. However, you may find a 6700 (non XT) for about £280-£300. This is the mobile version with 10GB and is a little slower but runs cool and quiet and you can push some extra frames out of it with a little tuning. I have my kids one running at about 106W with memory tweak, an overclock and an undervolt. Ancient Gameplay on YT provides a useful guide

I had a Dell 32" Freesync Premium Pro up until recently and it worked fine with the various nVidia GPUs I've had through my builds from 1660 to 4080 so you could also consider the RTX 3060 12GB which is my favoured all round GPU for less than £300

You can get a 6700XT for £300 no?

Just checked. The Sapphire Pulse is on pre order. Has been on pre order for months now. Good luck. I hope it comes in
