ADSL I think we couldn’t even get 1mb capped out at 700k.
FTTC- 16MB spotted a green cabinet getting build and emailed the CEO until it got installed. Slightly outside of their minimum distance at the time.
FTTC - range between 50-60MB new green box closer to home.

Just got the email from open reach today that 1GB is available. Been waiting a few months after watching them lay the cables and wire the posts!!

Have to phone Vodafone see if I can upgrade somehow.

All the way to Tattooine?! The Empire doesn’t sound so bad!

500mb ordered 37quid pm seemed the cheapest for any providers on my area/line

No fees in breaking my old contract that’s only really been signed up for and no installation fee.

I do a bit more shopping around after the contract is up but in general I’ve found Vodafone the cheapest in my area. Openreach lines

I feel like a king relative to some. Since moving out in 2002 I've always lived in an NTL/Telewest/VirginMedia area. The lowest I ever had was 128Kb, but generally over the years it went something like 128Kb > 512Kb > 1Mb > 2Mb > 4Mb > 10Mb > 20Mb > 50Mb > 100Mb > 200 Mb > 350Mb

I remember the jump to broadband, 512kbps and it was such a game changer. It allowed me to download a demo of Unreal (forget which version but wasn't UT) in 6 hours instead of many days. Having 1GB upload with our current ISP is the new game changer.

Think we got Pipex ADSL in 2001, before that I had to use a download manager and multiple hours to get a demo of Delta Force which I've just looked up and found out was 18MB.

I've recently just gone from BT FTTC 57/17 (used to be faster but it's been creeping down over the last couple of years!) to now joining Toob FTTP 900/900 service, though I'm consistently getting 945/950 and the best part is it's only £25pm.

It's incredible the difference, oh and my ping is only 3ms :D

32 down 7 up here. I am jealous.

We've been on 11mbps ADSL for years due to there being no fibre around us. Recently I went on to Three and their 4g router boy. I'm currently getting 40ish.
We've just had a flurry of activity from Open Reach in the area and it turns out they're installing fibre for MS3 or something.
So maybe once my Three contract is up we'll actually have a decent speed in the area.
