So what FPS on the XTX with ultra RT and no FSR?
7900XT.
You could go lower for a 1440p display but as RT is a priority, then I'd probably opt for the considerably better RT performance of the 7000 series over the 6000,

Still, I guess it depends on how much RT performance means to you in Cyberpunk, since that is one title AMD doesn't perform well where RT is concerned.

4k max settings with rt set to ultra getting a very sad 25 fps 
, turing rt off and maxing settings out with fsr on auto boosts fps to 130fps, when i change fsr to quality it drops back to around 85fps, tbh game dosnt look much diffrent imho, still looks very good on either card

25... Ouch lol. AMD cards really don't like cyberpunk RT do they.
my argument would be that rt and dlss are gimmic's, nvidia is effectivly putting all there eggs into the ai basket and not focusing on raw horsepower on there cards except the 4090, they are using clever upscalling techniques to sell you performance and charging a truck load of cash, amd on the other hand are focused on raw raster performance with a hint of upscalling tech, as nvidia amd are expensive but to me you feel like your getting more for what you pay with amd, the 4090 is the exception to that on team green but anything below the 4080 is a straight rip off, took me a while to figure it out but now that i have i feel a bit better.
I just hope nvidia's next gen takes a diffrent approch, less reliance on ai and upscalling gimmicks
I suspect your right. But the extra £600 over the XTX is hard to stomach.
For my money, 7900XT@£700 all the way.

No inbetween. I would agree with the above statements about banking the difference of about £900. Hell, that would probably even buy you next gen Nvidia 5050ti which would equate to the 4060 8GB but with a power saving 6GB and 96bit bus.

According to TechPowerUP the RTX4090 is 20% ahead of the 7900XTX but that's across all resolutions so at 1440p the delta will be less but at 4k the gap will be bigger. If you going to stick to a high refresh 1440p monitor and your finding the extra cost of a RTX 4090 hard to stomach then I think you known what card you should be getting especially now Sapphire have discounted Pulse models and a free copy of Starfield.

my friend is building a new PC and decided to cheap out on GPU as he is off to the USA for 3 weeks next Monday. said he would buy a better GPU in September
he grabbed a 5700xt for set up and system testing... he expected to play games at 1080 mid setting. he is gaming at 1440p high(not max) setting and getting 90fps...
Not sure I understand your point, we are talking about two top end cards not a 5700xt?
No, but at 2 years old a 7900XT will still be worth something, so could be sold and then then the £600 + whatever, then buys another card like a 7900XT, and then lasts for another 2-3 years. Versus spending £1500 or whatever now on a 4090 and then hoping it lasts 5 years and isn't gimped by whatever new technology etc comes out.
Maybe wind your attitude in a bit - people are trying to help and you're being aggressive
My wife went nuts last night when I said I ordered the XT, but not for the reason you think... She was ****** off I settled and didn't just get the best and asked I swap it for the 4090.
I messaged Support to ask if it was too late, it wasn't. Slightly OTT Zotac 4090 inbound :-)
