Some talk of the race weekend being cancelled due to the amount of rain

I've seen an article talking about FP1 potentially, but the forecast is much better for the rest of the weekend, certainly I don't see an issue with us getting a race on Sunday.
F3 is out on track just now, its wet but I've seen it a lot worse.

Came from George Russell in his capacity as GPDA representative.

Seems to be a bit of Chinese Whispers from what was actually said:

However, with a wet weekend likely and any track running on Friday already guaranteed to begin in wet conditions, Russell is one of several drivers to have stressed that all parties should be OK with the FIA being cautious and delaying or cancelling sessions.

“To have a race cancelled is not perfect but we don’t want another huge incident as we’ve just seen,” Russell said.

The Mercedes driver added: “Fortunately the weather looks better for Sunday and we’ll be going ahead. But following recent events I think the FIA have to be bold with their decisions when it comes to safety, when it comes to visibility.

“We know what the situation was two years ago [in 2021]. We don’t want it to be strung out as it was then. But we’re going to need some bold decisions.

“We all want to race. When you’re going down that straight at 200mph and you cant see 50 metres in front of you, there will be huge incidents, so they have a big responsibility this weekend.”

(my emphasis)

This is more about delaying/cancelling individual sessions than the race itself, which is expected to be in better weather anyway.

Given they have been the closest team to Max in the last two races, will be intresting to see how the McLaren drives on a high speed circuit.

Getting tempted to bodge a way of setting up my Logitech wheel and giving Spa a drive, used to love doing virtual laps here in all sorts of cars.

Soaked in FP1. Albon got a lap in on inters, but I don't think anyone else will doing that unless conditions dramatically improve. Could be pretty much a wash-out from here.
