It's too hot :(

We should have gone abroad.
Usually in July you get more good days than bad. But yesterday barely left the camp site or was so rubbish.
Thinking of coming home early as it might rain day pack.up the tent. Grim!

Worst thing is.. It'd be cheaper too to go abroad!

Feels like October not July.

When can I emigrate? :D

Rain on and off here for a few weeks now, temps around 20C and it feels muggy, not good for sleeping. Read an article on the BBC website yesterday about UK weather saying it might get sunnier and warmer late August but won't be a heatwave or anything. That'll do me, I dread a repeat of that really hot spell last year.

Certainly should be, as per my earlier post in the thread, as someone who dedicatedly follows the la nina/el nino weather patterns for my Canada winter breaks each year, this year is shaping up to be quite the rare one. Its looking like its going to be a pretty strong El Nino this year. First one for a long time. As a result of that, it should be a much colder, snowier winter in the UK and with it being such a strong El Nino , my prediction is that we could get a winter in the UK thats quite close to the cold , snowy winters of the late 1970s early 1980s, which was also a period of strong El Ninos.

Glad I upgraded/added all the house insulation this year. Could be a tough winter.

Here in the UK I think it will be, sadly, a strong El Nino is going to mean that the Rocky Mountains of western Canada where I spend my winters is going to be warmer than usual with less snow :(
 
Seeing as we came home from camping a day early due to horrendous weather I brought up emigration. But partner said she'd only want to go temporarily.

I don't think I'd want to uproot my life knowing its temporary (ie a couple of years). Obviously you can find you don't like it and come beck. But to go knowing you're coming back isn't for me.

Much to discuss on this.

Where's that heat coming from? It can't just appear out of nowhere and it's not warm enough outside to make that build up either. My thermostat is bouncing between 19.8 at its lowest and 21.6 at it's highest these last few days. Daily outside temperatures peaking around 18c.

Humans and having 3 out of the 4 walls attached to other rooms older building which likes to keep the heat in great for winter not so much for summer , in winter I don't need to use anything to heat it sometimes have the Windows open slightly

Oh yeah the TV didn't realise how much heat the screen outputs it's 65 inch can really feel the heat on my face when in front of it

Is that a plasma screen? I can barely feel anything from my TV. 65 inch Sony led.

Certainly wouldn't want to be uprooting (ie buying/selling house. Moving all stuff etc.

Did have this concern partner wouldn't want to go. But she seems. Keen to go "temporarily".

You’d have to really understand everything you are getting into good and bad with emigration. The grass isn’t greener is always true for this. That’s the conversation we always have when we talk about whether we would stay or go elsewhere. I feel I would want to understand somewhere as well as I do in the UK to go in eyes open. If you don’t see enough of the negatives to put you off going then you probably don’t know enough about the place. Then the decision will be clear for both of you. That’s how I see it anyway and I still think I will likely shift my main base at some point but without any romantic fantasy of what the next place will be like.

If it’s just an extended holiday then perhaps a holiday home or an extended rental somewhere. Easy to do 3 month breaks somewhere with nice weather.

A friends sister emigrated to Oz a couple of decades ago. She spent a a couple of years there then missed home so she uprooted the family and they all came back to the UK. Within six months she regretted that and they all went back to Oz again :D

Weather here is miserable again, grey sky and rain forecast, and 17 degrees.Yay Summer...
 
Seeing what's going on around the rest of the world, I far FAR prefer what we're getting now. I hate the heat anyway. And the up side is that my garden is looking amazing this year and the apples are almost ready a whole month early. (I have an apple tree in the garden)

I guess I need to know it's a potential.
I don't want to go knowing its either break up or come back. Because moving to Wales (not same but family is 4 hours away) has been best thing I've ever done and I'd never go back.

I love the remoteness the wild, the sea. I don't really ever go into town, and don't miss it.

What I do want more of is better weather and less people.

I guess the issue would be.
We go for a long trip, I love it, she misses home and we either part ways or one of us is disappointed.
But 3 months isn't enough to make it real. It's not long enough to miss home. It's still "holiday"
