Hi all a few days ago my pc stopped posting. A quick search on the internet pointed me towards a graphics card fault.

I removed my card and fitted a really old dx10 card and it posted. However I can't find a dvi to dvi cable to see if the monitor is getting a signal.

I think the card is about 1 year old, a gigabyte rx660xt.

any advice?

Yes, but it has a r5 5600g in it. If it boots will it boot off the apu or the gpu?

Depends where you plug the cable in (board or graphics card).

It sounds like it so far, but using the second machine will help to confirm.

Should boot off the gpu

So I fitted the card to my other pc and it booted fine, no issues.

I've also tried swapping the RAM into different slots and I tried different RAM.

I also removed the CMOS battery for hours. What next?

The 5600g. I've ran a few stress tests and it always switches off.

I haven't tried that as the 5600g was running fine, no issues. I'll try now.

Is the PSU good enough to run with a 6600 XT?

^ This, I have a 6600XT and even though my PSU was 550 watts made by BeQuiet the card didn't like having it's power supplied via separate 12v rails. As a result I would get a black screen when Windows was loading the driver during the Windows boot up process (I have a whole thread on this strange behaviour). The only way I could work around the issue was to buy a 850watt PSU from Corsair with a single fat 12v rail.

If you PSU is old or an older design this could the issue.

Pretty sure it's ok, it's ran the card since last year. My 5600g rig has a basic psu but it still booted and ran fine until I carried out various stress tests.

Tried a few stress tests on the 5600g alone, and it's fine, no crashing or locking up.

the card boots in the 5600g with a cheap PSU. My original sysytem has a decent cooler master psu.

A RX 6600XT?

Exactly which PSU do you have and how old is it? If the PSU is modular have you checked that the cables are fully seated in the PSU and have not come out slightly?
