Hi guys

I have a small problem with fan headers not working on motherboard.

AMD 7800 CPU

Everything connected as should be but fans do not kick In on boot. We can get into bios, but all fans showing as 0 spinning. We have tried dc, pwm, auto along with altering fan curves. We have updated
The bios.

Now we had sent the board back to the store, however they claimed that the board was working , despite one of the cpu pins being bent. They sent the board back and this is the position we are stuck in.

Any idea's?

Very frustrating

Did you send it back with a bent pin or it was returned to you that way ?

Have you tried to straighten the pin ?

Hi Micky

They claim it arrived to them in that state. Im not convinced as I am always mega paranoid when it comes to CPU's.

The pin has now been straightened. Took a few attemps, but we can get into the Bios without issue. for a few attempts it would it would not display, although I thorugh this was the case with some AM5 boards. The cpu, memory, M2 drive all appear fine. Just no fans spinning at all. They tested it with the broken pin and claim that the board was working fine.

Every board I have worked on up to now, the fans start up when you turn the pc on, then ramp down. These dont even start up.

Are you using a daisy chain cable, or are they individually connected? The easiest solution might be a fan controller, or a molex adapter.

Thats a great idea Tetras, although I wont then get fan speeds will I? No daisy chaining. Cpu fan direct to CPu header.

I think it depends on the controller, you can buy controllers that will support both 3 pin and 4 pin pwm fans.

The molex option, you'd have to buy resistors to lower their rpm.

Cheers Tetras, my Nephew has decided to take the computer to a local place to look at the issue. I shall update the thread.

Quick update. One of the power connectors into the psu was not connected. I had mentioned this to nephew and was assured that it was all connected. Oh well, problem resolved. Thanks both
